ECZ’s Electoral officer condemns attack on PF members in Monze condemned

Monze District Electoral officer, Frank Kalenga has strongly condemned the attack on some PF members by suspected UPND cadres which has led to the admission of two of them at Monze Mission Hospital yesterday.

Mr. Kalenga said the incident was unfortunate and appealed to all political parties taking part in the by election to campaign in a peaceful manner.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS yesterday, Mr. Kalenga said it was important for all political players to refrain from any form of violence so that a peaceful atmosphere continues to prevail.

” People should understand that the game is to campaign peacefully and not fight each other,” he advised.

Yesterday two PF members including the Provincial Secretary Brenda Shabantu were attacked and sustained serious injuries at Njola-Mwanza during a meeting to drum up support for the Mwanza East Ward by election PF candidate, Bornface Chaambwa.

The Mwanza East seat fell vacant following the demise of UPND Ward Councilor Bridget Matobo.

The seat is being contested by PF’s Bornface Chaambwa, Rainbow Party’s Mukipa Mapulanga and UPND’s Abel Haachambwa .

The local government by-election is slated for 24th April, 2018.

  1. Because it might be lies where has ECZ been when PF cadres have killed and harassed others including innocents citizens. This institution is very compromised and it’s supposed to be the last to comment on such issues with their biasness they let rigging go unchecked last election

    • HaChina, it’s called denial. It’s very common in upnd supporters and bantustanis. You’ve been brainwashed to believe only PF are violent and you guys are absolute saints. That’s why you can never believe the Namwala ethnic violence even if people were killed. With your source of information being controlled by hh and upnd, YOU ARE A COMPLETE ZOMBIE OR DONKEY.

  2. Zambian citizens you are brutalizing people everyday with evidence every where. Ask ECZ to provide evidence of this and they won’t. Too much of PF crimes are going unpunished no wonder the cadres feel like they can do anything. Our justice system and human rights record all in the toilet. Only foreigners can be this brutal the last brutal foreigner was Kaunda now we have this Lungu who we have no idea where he comes from l don’t know what we going to tell our future children about him
