The opposition Patriotic Front (PF) has announced that party leader Michael Sata is leading the presidential race by 56% against MMD’s Rupiah Banda with 32%, according to its preliminary results.
And the PF has since challenged the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to immediately release the results stating that the Commission already has the results.
PF Secretary General Winter Kabimba says it is unfortunate that the ECZ has not kept the nation updated on the election results when it had given an assurance.
Mr. Kabimba has since appealed to cooperating partners to advise President Rupiah Banda and the MMD to respect the will of the people in the elections.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka this afternoon, Mr. Kabimba also questioned why State house has been sealed by armed soldiers when Mr. Banda is on record urging parties taking part in the elections to accept the election results.
The Patriotic Front has since written to the European Union Election Observation Mission to intervene in the turn of events which he says may lead to civil strife if not brought under control.
And the Patriotic Front Secretary General has expressed sadness at the act of one presiding officer, Given Muleya for Bauleni South A, who allegedly forfeited results for newly elected PF Kabulonga ward councilor Mulenga Sata.
Mr. Kabimba has since questioned how genuine the loses suffered by its candidates in Chilanga and Chongwe constituencies are with such irregularities in place.

There are only 17 constituencies remaining and those if you go by the figures the are less than 200,000 registered voters the margin between RB and King cobra is about 130,000 unless Sata polls Zero in those areas and RB get all the polls which is not practical. The rush of adrenaline and excitement within the PF camp is understandable but it would be wise for Mr. Kabimba to await the final results from the ECZ before making any public announcements to the press. Eventually, everyone shall know who will be Zambia’s next president and the way things look right now, a lot of people need to prepare themselves for the element of surprise.
No ba Chale, The ECZ need to be aware that they are being watched every second. Keeping quiet till the end is a recipe for disaster. Remember last year they just disappeared from the scene and went home leaving Sata looking for them.

If you analysed the figures released so far i have observed the following: In most const. where PF has won it is with a high number above 10,000 and MMD has 2,000 to 3,000. And where MMD has Won it is a small difference with PF. I do not see MMD catching up with PF. Check the 2008 Election results and compare with what has been announced so far, you notice that it is the same winning pattern but PF has increased the numbers by a big margin. Or may be it is a high voter turn out. Remember also that UPND is quite a force to reckon with in some areas such as Western Province where MMD has become unpopular due to issues that all Zambians Know(Barotse????).
