The opposition MMD has demanded to know the specific allegations being leveled against former President Rupiah Banda prompting some sections of society to call for the lifting up of his immunity so that he can be prosecuted.
MMD national secretary Major Richard Kachingwe says it is only after the charges against the former leader are made clear that the party’s National Executive Committee will be able to give its position on the matter.
Major Kachingwe also told QFM that it is surprising to note that some people are trying to create an issue over the collaboration between the UPND and MMD.
He has denied reports that the two political parties are trying to form a pact in order to frustrate the policies of the PF government.
He notes that it is however, a constitutional right of the UPND and MMD to associate adding democracy in the country can only be nurtured if people are allowed to make use of the democratic principles which among them encourage freedom of assembly.
And Major Kachingwe has maintained that the MMD will support all the progressive policies that the new government will put in place for the benefit of the Zambians.
He adds that the MMD will ensure that it offers meaningful contribution to the country’s governance system by proving checks and balances and only criticize were necessary.

The government has a cabinet and those ministers has specific mandates. I would like to see a situation were respective ministers and their spoke persons take responsiblities of informing our of their happening in their respective ministries. This thing in Africa where the president announces this and that must stop. This is what makes them dictators. Why have a cabinet if cobra is responsible for all functions of the government.ZRA is under Finance Minister, ZESCO, Energy, Police and so on. Why cant the relevant ministers do their work and make prouncements. Some remarks from the Anti- Bemba bregade are quite appalling and to an extent funny. The party that is known by most Zambians as tribal is the UPND. The bottom line is that HH is not likeable. He does not appear down to earth and is out of touch with the electorate in that he comes from an Executive persuasion where one cannot even understand the oppression of subordinates. A president must select an administration of trusted personnel and that is what he has done. The reason why the PF has got the mandate to rule is because they command the urban areas. Do not be fooled, the working majority do not vote on anything but reduced tax. As for the PF supporters on the streets, it is because H.E Sata is likeable (the guy next door approach).
Can someone make a serious classification of tribes in Zambia. For all I know from history, unless through migration, Luapula Province has tribes like Lunda-Kazembe, Ushi, Chishinga etc. The Bemba are a small minority in Luapula. Northern Province too has the Namwanga, Nyika, Bemba, Bisa (Sata’s) and many more. Speaking Bemba through assimilation or socialisation does not make you Bemba. Just like Southern has Tonga and Ila; Western has Lozi, Nkoya, Mbunda etc; Northwestern has Luvale, Lunda, Kaonde, Luchazi and many more. When most of you talk about tribe, what do you exactly mean. I know a lot of people in Luapula who would rather be called Bemba than Lunda – Kazembe or Ushi, silly chaps. The real Bemba are those that venerate Chitimukulu.
If I was this major, I would just shut the “F” up. When Rupiah was busy looting our coffers and allowing his son to bring in enetically modified maize which by law was banned, Kachingwe was not there. If I was this fool, I would ask Kanishamezy to vacate his remaining position and avail himself to law enforcement agencies to start preparing himself for a long protracted tangle in court with Zambias.Especially on the parentage matter and ZAMTEL, I cannot see how he can survive. If RB is innocent why did he anticipate his possible prosecution and repeal the abuse clause. All thieves must be tried and locked up. Clemency must only be granted after the recovery of two thirds of the stolen money.
