Information, Broadcasting and Tourism minister Given Lubinda interacts with Chinese investors

Information Minister Given Lubinda has castigated Lusaka politician and businessman, Benjamin Mwila for suggesting that the country is under extreme tension from the time the PF government took office.

Mr Lubinda described as misguided and baseless Mr B.Y Mwila’s negative statements carried in Sunday’s Daily Mail Advertorial.

He says at a media briefing that the PF administration has a duty to protect citizens from innuendos that have the potential to send wrong messages about the government and the country.

Mr Lubinda wondered which sections of the country are under extreme tension or people that need to be reconciled as alleged by Mr Mwila.

The Minister emphasized that no persons found guilty of corruption will left to go scot free simply because they are former leaders.

Mr Lubinda says Mr Mwila’s claims are a result of personal anguish arising from government’s termination of the former Nchilenge MP’s road contract in Chibombo.

He says Mr Mwila’s firm Wade Adams failed to fulfil contractual obligations for which it has to refund the government billions of Kwacha.

Meanwhile, Mr Lubinda says former President Rupiah Banda will lose his retirement entitlements if he heeds to Mr Mwila’s advice to continue leading the MMD for the next two years.

In his statement, Mr Mwila urged President Michael Sata to help reduce the extreme tension and reconcile the people.

He suggested that the new government should embrace all people even those that voted against the PF in the September 20, tripartite elections.

  8. BY is right. How do you explain diplomats in Malaysia who have been fired without 3 months notice reqiuered by law, leaving them stranded with unfinnished formal commitments. AND dangerously, leaving the President family member who is a delare in Malaysia. We Zambians do no want him here.

  13. @Mushota you are a fool. It appears with your MBA, CIMA and ACCA you have been educated beyond your intelligence. I don’t have a degree, but I leave a very comfortable life, I have a personal doctor, an account and other “educated Zambians working for me”. Without me these ‘educated persons’ and their families will not eat. And yes, without them, my business may not flourish as well as it is doing. Therefore, my relationship with my ‘educated workers’ is ‘hand in glove so to speak’. How about you my over-educated friend? Do you have enough food on your table? Need a job? It’s us the uneducated ones who who hold the keys. Have respect.

  15. Mwila was acting like a King, holding all imprest including petty cash, and behaving badly on the road contract that he failed to execute. He bragged about his connection to RB. If there are people still moarning the MMD loss, BY is one of them. But the guy was not serious because he couldn’t even employ qualified staff despite the fact Wade Adam is a building construction firm, not a road construction firm. He refused advice and carried himself as if he knew it all. Let BY pay back because that is the only way he will know and understand that public resources should never be collected by individuals pretending to know what that are doing when in fact not. BY is a criminal and must be caged.

  17. Lubinda can not calm the tension as he can not see it, wasnt it just yesterday when one of the spoilt ministers claimed 55% of Zambians are bemba. Iwe zayelo, there are serious tribal tensions since you small minds came to power, come to your senses….the sooner the better.

  18. I did not realise until now that the best president Zambia has ever had was Levy Patrick Mwanawasa a Lenje by tribe from Chief Chamuka in Kabwe east. He was really focused on taking Zambia to greater hights. He deserves more honours than the little he has received. He was not a kulibonesha. He was really ichibumba. Inshimbi and very principled man. Off course a few people around him let him down. MHSRIP. Maybe we should try someone from a smaller tribe again because it is not easy for the tribalism to show it`s ugly face. I did not know Bemba`s are worse than Tonga`s except they do it in a subtle manner while a Tonga lays it bare.

I have a B.Sc, CIMA and ACCA plus M.Sc in Intergrated Economics that I don`t even talk about. You talk so much about your night school qualifications. Olo unama chabe bozza. That Nick must be a waiter at some Irish pub in Glasgow. My bf is a Ph.D and a Harvard graduate. So let`s just talk about Zambian issues instead of kulibonesha.

    The problem with BY is that he always feels he is the best expert on Zambian politics when he knows very little except about Moise Tshombe.

  22. There’s more tribalism certainly. Just check LT archives, were no tribal comments during RB reign and previously. The failure of the PACT and Sata’s appointments has certainly caused more Tongas to be openly tribal against Bembas and more Bembas to equally react.

    Tongas have always been tribal but it really didnt bother many people that much in the past. Today, there’s much hatred with it. Sata and HH need to address this issue.

When he was busy gun-running for diamonds in Angola and sending our boys on that air coffin to Gabon, there was tranquility. Or when he was threatening FTJ’s kids from post mortem saqying ‘kuti mwaya sanga month ilomba mukati mulya’, he was creating tranquilo in Zambia! The devious lumpen should be arrested for killing Baldwin.

  35. Mr Ilunga Katanga Ben Mwila from Congo was a defacto leader of Zambia during Chiluba reign. As minister of defence poaching was one of his speciality using ZAF planes with foreigners from Germany, South Africa and America. He pretended to have bought several properties which were never paid for and started to collect rent from them. Top on this was Chibote holding properties where Meridian BIAO bank was paying him 25000 dollars per month, money meant for the government of Zambia. He is a sucker and needs to be investigated too. He wants to be friend PF so as to forget all these offences committed during Chiluba rule his nephew. All days are not mondays so now is time to account for his actions.

  41. PF govt. how can Mr Mutangelwa Imasiku be appointed as Zambian ambassador to Angola????. This man is wanted in Namibia and Botswana for subversive activities agitating for freedom of all the Lozis found in Angola, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia.     I saw the news which hurt my spirit as a black woman today in both the
    University of Glasgow(1451) and University of Strathclde(1796) tabloids;

    According to this investigation, it was found that a black man would actually kill his mother just to sex a white woman!

    On the other hand,if you see a black woman with a fat white man that means her credit card or is it Visa card is messed up real bad.

How do you explain Dora’s 19 year old son with over ZMK2 Billion in his accounts, Thandiwe Banda in 3 years from a teachers pension is now worth over ZMK8 Billion, Austin farms bearing cash crops of ZMK2.1 Billion the flip side is that you have a new government that wants to prove that corruption and abuse of office did take place.   56. Our beloved President Michael Sata said he does not want to travel outside the country anyhow because he wants to channel the cash to poverty alleviation. This is a very good thing and I encourage all Zambians to emulate this for us to forge ahead with development. His Excellency Sata has exhibited loyalty to all Zambians and has set a good example of Christianity just from the word go!

  62. I don’t think people are bluffing when they are busy daily talking about tribe supremacy and hate on these on-line media outlets, so, yes, to some extent, BY is correct to say there is tension. We can only ignore it at our own peril. Look at what transpired during the Mongu riot commission of inquiry, tension was there because at times the hearings were becoming unruly. And PF appointments have also contributed to these tensions because other tribes feel left out of the national cake. Other churches feel left out because the Catholic church seem to be the most prominent and favoured religious faith now.We will continue shouting One Zambia One Nation but I personally think this ideology proper went with KK himself. Politics of appeasement won’t take us anywhere. Just saying.

  64. BY may have his own problems. however, the tension is real in this country, Mile Sampa’s statement were so tribal that it hates to be a Zambian. Bembas are taking this to a higher level and it may be difficult in future to turn back the clock. Lubinda you are already missing the point just being in office for under three months. The PF govt has shown the whole country that what matters in this country is to be catholic (Katolika) and Bemba speaking.
