Leader of the MMD Die Hard Youth Wing Bowman Lusambo has maintained that National Secretary Major Richard Kachingwe has been compromised by the PF.

Mr. Lusambo said it has become clear that Major Kachingwe is not serving the interests of the MMD but that of his family.

He has now issued a fresh one week ultimatum to Major Kachingwe and his Deputy Chembe Nyangu to vacate the party’s secretariat in Lusaka’s Rhodespark area.

“We have decided to be civilized about this issue. We could have gone there yesterday (Friday) and lock up his office but we decided to give him chance to reason and pack his files nicely,” Mr. Lusambo said.

He said Major Kachingwe is a person he personally respects but that their latest differences are on principle adding that he loves the MMD so much and does not want to see extinct.

Mr. Lusambo warned that Major Kachingwe and Mr. Nyangu will be forced out of their offices if they don’t heed the ultimatum which will run out on Friday.

He said Major Kachingwe’s admission that he has been to State House and that President Michael Sata paid for his wife’s medical treatment in South Africa is confirmation that Major Kachingwe cannot run an effective opposition party.

“He said he is thankful to President Sata for not recalling his son from the diplomatic service, he said he is thankful because President Sata arranged that his wife be evacuated to Millpark Hospital and this is a man who can run MMD?” Mr. Lusambo questioned.

Mr. Lusambo said the youth wing has information that Major Kachingwe has been bribed by State House to further weaken the party.

“The man is not working for the interests of the party, he is busy serving his belly and that of his family members but the MMD has to go on and survive, so he has to leave.”

Major Kachingwe told Journalists earlier in the week that it would take a crane and a bulldozer to remove him from his position in the MMD.

On Friday, the MMD youths were scheduled to go and lock up offices for Major Kachingwe and Mr. Nyangu at the party’s secretariat as a way of forcing them to leave the party.

Operations however went on smoothly at the secretariat with staff operating normally with no sign of disturbances.

  1. The mazoka massacre @1 You are from Zimbabwe and Lusambo is a Mwachusa from Tukuyu Tanzania. How do you like this? Stop this habit of labling everyone a foreigner each time you differ in opinion.

  2. Nevers Mumba was the first to visit statehouse but he was chased by security personnel. He should also explain his motives and who assigned him to go there.

  3. die hard for RB, no loyaltyin MMD! bring the popcorn so we can watch self destruction. maybe RB wants to stand again so he has to clear opposition in MMD, meaning Nevers will be next at the next convention.

  4. Nevers Mumba, this is where you have to show leadership. How you get your party past these squabbles will determine your progression as a party. If Sata helped kachingwe to have his wife evacuated to milpark, whats wrong with saying thankyou. Please MMD, you ruled us for 20 yrs, we expect you to be more mature in the way you handle issues. What evidence is there to show that Kachingwe is bought or has been bribed? Iwe chi Lusambo, i challenge you to produce evidence before you deal with Kachingwe. Shame on you MMD. Put your house in order now, we want to see a powerfull opposition worth taking about. Loook at how intack UPND is, there MPs dont bwatabwata..despite the chalenges UPND is having, the party is admirable when it comes to loyalty and discipline.

  5. AFCON is useless, Katongo has done better than any player in Africa in last 2 years. He even stood strong to all the critics I & other haters were pouring at him. The guy he strong he deserves African Footballer of the year.
-What is Ba of Newcastle, Drogba, useless Yaya, you can’t compare all those to Katongo. None of them did anything for their countries.

  6. Neo Patriot#7 You miised my point. What am trying to tell #1 is that there is no need of accusing people of unsubstantiated claims. The case here is not about where somebody comes from. Unless you are affected other wise there is nothing wrong in my posting #3

  7. ostradamus #8 French West Africa dominates all fora in Africa and as long as this remains, we shall always be short changed. Remember how Nkhosinkazi of SA had problems on becoming Head of AU?

  8. @11, do you know that South Africans do no consider themselves as being in Africa. If the are travelling to Zambia for instance, they will say say something like “I am going to Africa”. So that woman heading the AU is just a farce if you ask me.

  9. Imwe tiyeni tikondane sure chi Ukwa has successfully divided the MMD, the Lozi, the Nsenga, the judiciary and the Army among themselves.

  10. Jostling for the little assets that MMD has been left with. Same thing happened when Unip went out of power. Everyone wanted a piece of the last cake

  12. These primitive politicians like Lusambo are the ones who will drive the nation into anarchy. He thinks people have to hate each other on political lines. Sata is the president of the country and if he extends goodwill to Kachingwe’s family at a time of need then that should not be construed as being compromised. But then again if you consider Sata and his thinking, African politics of poverty, you begin to see that maybe this guy has a point.

  13. Ba Lusambo, don’t confuse people you must learn to leave with reality.MMD is no longer in power,PF is so, whoever want to survive must associate self with the people in power period.Come out of that fake castle of yours bane and accept you lost no longer in power just like others who no long dream of being in power again.Leave that major alone and concentrate on working together as another finished, privatised party.RB ni nchenjeshi ba posha party balyamo there he goes quietly.

  14. The major can meet anyone regardless of their political standing, even the current president meet the then president the late mr mwanawasa he even evacuated Mr sata to SA for medical attention, PF didnt cry foul,Bo Lusambo you may be the one hired to pull MDD down, prove the major is not performing not these wild outbursts in fact the major should immediately discipline that Lusambo boy for being silly…

  15. Very,Very sad what’s become of MMD. I vividly recall one afternoon in 1991 at David Kaunda stadium in Chipata. We were all there and it rained cats and dogs, but we stood our ground to listen to Arthur Wina, Baldwin Nkumbula, Chiluba, Aka, Bennie Mwinga,Kawimbe, and a host of other top and inspiring leaders of MMD. We didn’t feel the rain, drenched as we were. Now there’s Nevers Mumba, and Lusambo, and such like, from where! Nuff said.

  16. Major Kachingwe, believe it or not came out as a leader, I feel so bad that I perceived him as one of those who wanted to jump on the band wagon, but he well articulated his agenda with MMD. Listening to him on Zambian TV or is it ZNBC. I hope my message will be posted here,.
