Sunzu Is Still A Mazembe Player: Katumbi

Share

TP Mazembe boss Moses Katumbi says Stopilla Sunzu status has been resolved and he is not a free agent.

Sunzu’s status has been the subject of debate over the last three weeks after a standoff between Mazembe and his representatives.

“As for Sunzu, even now, we are ready to listen to offers from any club in Europe. The only problem is that his managers have been confusing the boy by lying to him that his contract with Mazembe has expired and yet it is still valid until 2015,” Katumbi said.

Sunzu last Thursday returned from England where he was courted by Reading and Sunderland after reports that his three-year deal with Mazembe dating back to 2010 had expired.

“It is for this reason that we had a meeting with him on Saturday in the presence of his fiancée and his father and went through the contract with everybody again and after that, everyone present, including the player himself, agreed that he still had a valid contract. Infact, we even paid him his latest salary after the meeting,” Katumbi said.

“The agents must learn to respect African clubs because we invest a lot in these players. You can’t just come to Africa and want to get players for free.”

  1. So who are the boy’s representatives? And why are the FAZ crooks mute on this issue? They were happy to release him to go for trials in England but are exceptionally quiet on this issue..this is what happens when you are compromised.

    • Mafia style… “Now I know your father, now I know your fiancee, and I have paid you hard cash in a brand new briefcase, $30,000. If you try to go to UK again, I will go after your family, don’t f**#k with me mwaiche. Kusema ni kutaka!!”

  2. How on earth does one go to sort out employment issues go with your FATHER and even so called FIANCEE? Does this confirm that sunzu is congolese, but raised in zambia and hence cant speak lingal so the father was his intepreter? The fiance had to intepret from english to bemba cos SUNZU cant speak english?

    • Sunzu’s dad is from Congo. Stophilla Sunzu was born in Congo but came to Zambia as a young boy and family were staying in Hellen kaunda mine township in Chililabombwe. His father Feli (Felix) was a Goalkeeper for Konkola Blades.

This should answer most of your question

    • MAlinso uli chipuba sana Why are you obseessed with. Sunzu’s father’s nationality? Odemwinge is a German international yet his brother plays for Nigeria That is the global village we now live in Remain in your village mentality and the world will pass u by

  3. At some point FAZ organised some test for people who wanted to become FIFA certified player agents the response was very very poor. This is the end result talent going to waste.

  4. Every time I state that the biggest obstacle to football development is the corrupt empty suits in Football House I’m vilified…wake up people…I’ve been doing some digging this boy currently signed to a RSA based sports agency called Bigtime Sports Management. Are these his representatives who are confusing him? Are these people connected to FAZ top brass?

Follow the link below and you will see the boy’s photo with his agent

  5. Mafia style… “Now I know your father, now I know your fiancee, and I have paid you hard cash in a brand new briefcase, $30,000. If you try to go to UK again, I will go after your family, don’t f**#k with me mwaiche. Kusema ni kutaka!!”

  6. There is missing link in this news; what really happened when he went to Reading before the Afcon – or did he go at all? And he return to the same club, plus Sanderland – for what; repeat trials? LT please piece together all these stories about this boy, Mr I feel better, to connect the pre Afcon stories to this story.

  7. When was the renewed contract signed? How is it that Sunzu’s agent (and Sunzu?) assumed the contract was expired? Is this a case of sloppy record-keeping? Or is it a case of adhoc treatment of contractual obligations (paying people without documentation, etc.)? A lot of questions… perhaps the report needs to be more detailed than it is. Some background independent of Katumbi’s assertions would be great – it is also called investigative reporting.

  8. Did SUNZU pass the medicals at READING? Did they check everything, in terms of everything (u know what i mean) cos. at AFCON the man had mulilo wakwa lesa on his face, was that a sign that he failed medicals?

  9. Malinso,

You are not being very good to the guy who has done quite a l9t to the country, he deserves privacy. In any case, assuming he did have the herpi zosta you have referred to, who told you that that alone is enough to fail a medical???? We should learn to respect people’s private lives and be supportive to them, Sunzu rich now need our support as soccer fans!!! Vultures ar5e bent on making money out of him and in the process may ruin his career!!!!

  10. I have know Ba Kasi since the days of Kaniki and Sakanya business smuggling, these guys are so difficult to deal with.

  11. i think malinso u are wright i think he failed the medicals bcz of mulilo wakwalesa.the end of the road for sunzu, waste of talent.
