Red Arrows and Nchanga Rangers have qualified to the 2013 Barclays Cup semifinals following quarterfinals wins in a doubleheader at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka today..
In the first quarterfinal kickoff, Arrows beat National Assembly 3-1 thanks to goals from Shadreck Malambo and Lubinda Mundia in the 26th and 42nd minutes respectively gave them a 2-0 halftime lead.
Assembly sneaked one back through substitute Evans Mwanza in the 79th minute.
However, Patrick Musonda made sure of Arrows semifinal passage with his sides third in the 90th minute.
Meanwhile, Nchanga had goalkeeper Foster Nsabata to thanks after he shined in their dramatic 3-1 post-match penalty win over Zanaco after the game finished 1-1.
It was a forgettable end for Zanaco after taking the lead via a Moses Phiri penalty in the 51st minute before they were reduced to ten men after Stephen Phiri was sent off for faking an injury.
Nchanga midfielder Patrick Kasunga then made sure the game was settled via penalties after an ironical twist in the tale when he converted a spot kick to equalise for the Chingola side.
Kasunga went on to convert one of Nchanga three post-match penalties to see them through to the last four.
On Sunday, Nkana face Green Buffaloes while Zesco take on Choma Eagles in the other quarterfinal doubleheader at the same venue.
Its Brave Nchanga all the way. Brave for life! Period!
Both Nchanga rangers and Red arrows deserved to win those games because they played better than thier opponents.
Players should learn to be serious. Faking an injury?
