Nkana dance over Swallows in seven goal feast

Share

Nkana turned on the style on Saturday to crush Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland 5-2 in a CAF Champions League preliminary round, return leg match at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

Nkana trailed 2-0 from the first leg and need to beat Swallows 3-0 to advance but twice the Swaziland side turned that uphill battle into a mountain to scale with goals in each half.

And it was Swallows who yet again took the lead to single Nkana that they now needed four goals to overturn the result after Zimbabwe striker Kudazanyai Matanda scored the opener in the 6th minute.

The goal was Matanda’s second against Nkana after scoring one in Swallows first leg win a week ago.

Nkana’s fight back began in the 19th minute when Ronald Kampamba fired in the equaliser before adding his second in the 24th minute from the penalty spot.

The hosts went 3-1 into the break after Kampamba sent a wonderful cross in for Simon Bwalya who headed in the games fourth goal in a dramatic opening 30 minutes.

Bwalya added his second in the 63rd minute before Wonder Nhelko raise the stakes with Swallows second on the day in the 73rd minute.

The ex-Power Dynamos striker completed his hat trick in the 85th minute after man-of-the-match Kampamba rolled the ball into his path to slot in the defining goal to complete a stunning comeback.

Nkana face KCCA of Uganda in the first round with the latter travelling to Kitwe for the first leg on March 1 before hosting the Zambian champions on March 9 in Kampala.

    • Where is Jay Jay, I hope he could watch how Bemaulle’s players entertained the Kitwe population, that Sate Sate, Kalume and Simon Bwalya… they go places. From Nkana is straight to Souax!! Renard is waiting,,,,

  1. Congratulations to Nkana for progressing to the next round. As the team movesto the stage where birds begin to be seperated from butterflies, it will need to up its game if it has to have an impact in the competetion. Allowing four goals in two games smacks of a porous defense and the technical bench must pay priority attention here.
    Congratulations once more

    • I am very happy for Nkana. As you have said, we need to improve on the defence. We can overun KCCA. Plan to beat them with many goals in the fisrt match.

  5. Well done guys. Defence must be sorted out. Without mentioning names, some defenders in the team are have tired legs. They need replacement. You can not allow silly goals as we saw on Saturday. However, the team is fantastic. The style of play was terrific. It was marvelous to watch Simon partnering so well with Sate Sate.

    Go go go Nkana

  6. Thats a win I call ”passing through fire”. It is the best start to the competition. You have been hardened and tempered, shown resolve and tenacity. You will not underate or fear anyone. The Kalampa hype was real. Yuo are going places.
