Sunzu seals Sochaux victory

Share

Stopilla Sunzu’s stock in Ligue One continues to rise after guiding Sochaux to victory on Saturday night.

Sochaux beat Guingamp 1-0 thanks to a late second half goal from the Zambian defender.

Sunzu fired in a diving header in the 84th minute to hand Herve Renard’s side a valuable home win and result in their battle to try and get out of the bottom three demotion zone.

This was the second time that Sunzu has stepped up to save Sochaux after scoring another goal in their 1-0 home win over Nantes on February 1.

Sunzu has taken his tally to two goals in seven Ligue 1 matches since joining the club from DR Congo club TP Mazembe in early January.

Meanwhile, compatriot Nathan Sinkala also started and finished the game while striker Emmanuel Mayuka did not make the team for the game.

  1. Sunzu will only get better and he seems to be a nice chap. I just wish him good health and that he stays clear of injuries, the sky is the limit.

  2. Nice for Sunzu, at least he is showing character so far that he is determined and he want to achieve more by playing in Europe.

    • Because he has congolese blood in his veins. Look at Mayuka who went there earlier than Suzu. Even Renard has seen Mayuka is a dry stick. He gave so much chance to prove himself but awe sure. I really don’t know what is wrong with this generation of Zambian footballers.

  3. Sunzu is on FIRE!!!
Good game as he earlier missed 2 chances, before heading in the winning goal, which is Great, as he is not a forward player, but a defender, & he’s proving more Lethal than all the Midfielders, & strikers @ sochaux put together.
Sunzu is Now responsible for earning sochaux a vital 6 points.
Continue this way & Premiership Soccer is a possibility next Season, as I know Arsenal, Newcastle, possibly Liverpool will be keeping a close eye on this emerging talent.

    • Jay Jay,
Please, stop being so negative with Sunzu. Last you said that Sunzu scored from a dead ball and called Renard as a ” PE” teacher.
Once again, Sunzu is proving you other. Learn to support your own, even last time most of us people told you to be patriotic.
When will you stop your hatred for Renard? Learn something from now on wards.

    • @Jay Jay, did you also hear that Nkana scored 5 goals today? 5 goals , you can also blame that on Herve.
Its sad weekend for you the PF.

    • And what do you think a dead ball is? You know nothing about football if you did, you would know that I was conplimenting him. HR will always be a PE teacher statistics don’t lie.

  4. that is good for Sunzu and all Zambians who love football. PB must consider Sate Sate in the senior team as we prepare for a friendly. we don’t have good striker in our senior team. this has made us to draw all the 3 games at afcon and misfire for the WC qualifiers.

  5. thats gud 4 sunzu and all funs coz he has continue perfoming well.only mayuka shud pull up his socks.congrats 2 Nkana boys.

    • Rud @ 11, Nice comment.
The way Sunzu is currently playing, I don’t think its further from the truth, he could be wearing Ferdinand’s shirt @ the Theatre of dreams soon!

  6. only advice i can give Mr Sunzu is learn from your friends mistakes do not rush to run away from Sochaux thinking the grass is greener on the other side especially the English Premier league is very unforgiving. stay there as long as you can, even if your team gets relegated. plant your feet first.

  7. Sunzu doesnt need to go to England. Whats wrong with you colonial master followers? All those who were colonised by Britain seem to think the ultimate place is UK. How enslaved do you want to be?

    • Yeah and all those colonised by the French think Paris is the place to be. Stretch it to the Mozambicans and their love for Portugal

  8. As for Mayuka l don’t see him going back to Southampton as he is not just good enough simple as that…he still can not make first team even whilst on loan. That is a disgrace! !

  9. Mayuka’ s pomposity has costed him the boy is arrogant He at one time said and I quote “I don’t owe any one goals” he will tumble down and find us down here were those without goals live

  10. All the best to our chipolopolo boys who are in france, sky is the limit sunzu keep on scoring goals we love you guys BIS-B JOY from nakonde-ZAMBIA

  11. THOSE CONGLATULATING SUNZU IN ENGLISH YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME HE DOESNT UNDERSTAND THIS LANGUAGE CAN YOUR ADDRESS HIM IN BEMBA PLEASE.
BA SUNZU TWATOTELA TATA MWATUSEBULULA KO INSONI EPASHILI PAKULEKA MWEBO.

  12. Jay Jay the issue about the three boys refusing to play for their country could not just pass without criticism, we should not defend a wrong.
