Government has warned Radio Mano community station in Kasama to immediately stop airing programmes that create public discontent or else have its broadcasting license revoked.

Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Mwansa Kapeya issued the warning yesterday when he visited the radio station.

Mr. Kapeya said he has received complaints regarding the unprofessional conduct at Radio Mano, a situation he described as detrimental to the peace in society.

The Minister warned that government will not allow the radio station to continue airing derogatory programs without any form of censorship.

He said it was unethical for the Radio Mano to be abused by politicians whose motive is to attack government without proper justification.

Mr. Kapeya, who is also Chief Government spokesperson, said he will not hesitate to revoke the licenses of radio stations in the country that do not observe good broadcasting ethics.

The Minister has since called for professionalism among media houses in the country.

And Mr. Kapeya has advised the Board at Radio Mano to desist from taking their positions as personal-holder-posts.

The Minister said it is unfortunate that learn that the Board members were reluctant to renew their mandate despite their term of office expiring.

He said it is a requirement in the broadcasting licenses for community radio stations to hold regular elections for Board members in order to enhance good management of the institutions.

Meanwhile, Radio Mano manager Chrispin Ntalasha assured the Minister that his radio station will strictly adhere to the provisions of its broadcasting license to avoid being conflict with the law.

  1. Banana Republic par Excellence! Honestly Zambians you should fight to take back your country. 50 years of wrong Heads of State is too much!

    • mwansa kapeya listen to yourself,,,`He(kapeya) said it was unethical for the Radio Mano to be abused by politicians `.
kapeya is forgetting that he is a also politicians who is abusing the radio station by threatening

    • and just to think of it, mwasa kapeya is afraid of mentioning GBM`s name in the alleged abuse of radio mano by `politicians`…. kekekekeekk kapeya saw what happen to my nephew Mukitwa and mmembe who attempted to bring GBM`s name into disrepute

    • @Ndobo, you are abit mistaken by comparing Bashi Lubemba Kapeya with wimpy Lozi boy Mukwita.
Mwansa Kapeya went to control his employees at Radio Mano whom he helped open that Radio station. “Ilyashi lya pano sonde”,

  2. …so bwana Ntalasha, to you, avoiding conflict with the law shall mean always singing songs of praise for the ruling party and its Govt. and never to invite the opposition to your station….??…..you might as well opt to wind up. ZNBC is there for that purpose.
As a people we seem to be very far from attaining even half of the democratic values.
How I wish Parliament had a last say in issuing and revoking of such licenses………

  3. ” Mr. Kapeya, who is also Chief Government spokesperson, said he will not hesitate to revoke the licenses of radio stations in the country that do not observe good broadcasting ethics” Bwana Kapeya tell us about an iota of good ethics in your Govt delaying the implementation of the new constitution among other ills that your Govt. has brought since you came to power. In case you have forgotten, it is your PF party that was involved in the murder of innocent souls during the in fighting. Tell us about any good ethics about that behaviour among other things that you have brought. Mr Kapeya if you need to bring discipline in the country it must start at state house.

  4. lets not interprete things wrongly. at one time yangeni radio station in mansa miss informed the people on the innoncet boys who were killed by the mob and this lead to riots! i believe the caution is not in bad faith bt to remind them to be factual when reporting.

    • This is not about Yangeni radio in Mansa and Kapeya did not issue a caution statement. It is about Radio Mano in Kasama and Kapeya issued a warning. You should have given an example about radio Mano which warrants Kapeya Fyabukaya warning!

  5. Stop intimidating our station, I have come to hate PF so much. How can Hon, Sikazwe Freedom direct the rejected Mpulungu womaniser DEBS to start humiliate teachers in his constituency.Am fade up.

  6. Ba Kapeya ukwabula Radio Mano and the post that gave you the platform you couldn’t have made it. Now you are in power you think will be there forever you will never be in opposition.
Leave Radio Mano alone please. I feel sorry for PF I agree with President of what is said about MPs in Katuba. Don’t kutinya baice that is a community station it the board to complain not PF members.

  7. This talk about the delay in implementing the new constitution even after the government has given its position on why it is taking sometime is a shame on the part of those that have kept posting such comments.

  8. you are the same clowns that voted for these *****s and now you speaking against your own doing theres more to come from this muchinga ass holes

  9. Ba Kapeya, tekanyeni Ng’anga imusange ilyo michili mulepema mweo.

The Minister of Information must keep a long distance from the wrangle created by Sata. Kapeya must learn to use his psychology and reflect on the true feelings of the Bembas under a situation where Sata has been applying a wedge between the Bembas and the Bisas.

Kapeya cannot ignore the role that GBM played resulting in the PF winning the 2011 General elections. Yet GBM is not a Tonga but carries 100% Bemba genes.

A statement once made by Fr. Bwalya to the effect that “President Sata has used the Bembas and now dumped them”, speaks volumes. Kapeya should be warned that molten larva is simmering in Kasama. A volcano can erupt any time if the PF misjudge the people. Learn from Chililabombwe local Govt elections.

  10. Mr Kapeya, you are almost a respected senior citizen of the beloved Zambia. There is no need to start threatening media houses just because you and government perceive the view and stand point by some media organisations distanced from your government view point. People whether by view of organisation or simply affiliation have a right to voice their position and should freely do so without intimidation. Your intimidation will cost you more than your hope. Respect Zambians in whatever form, position of thought or enlightenment on your government position/s, they will respect you too. There is everything right in agreeing to disagree or otherwise than using a stamp down technique. You are serving Zambians not your paper work programs
