FAZ vice president Boniface Mwamelo has hailed Shepolopolo for qualifying to the 2014 Africa Women Championship to be held in Namibia in October.
Zambia on Sunday beat Zimbabwe 1-0 in the return leg of the final round in Lusaka to qualify for their maiden Africa Women Championship 2-0 on aggregate.
“It is congratulations to the girls. It is a great moment because we told the nation that the girls will deliver a Golden Jubilee present and they have done it,” Mwamelo said.
He has since called for early preparations.
“To us as FAZ the real battle has just started. We need to start preparing for Namibia now. We really need to be adequately prepared,” Mwamelo said.
Meanwhile, Zambia are now in the race to qualify for the 2015 FIFA Womens World Cup to be held in Canada.
Africa’s representatives at next year’s Senior Women World Cup will be picked at the Namibia finals in October.
