United party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema has reiterated his call for fairness in application of Public Order Act, reports Pan African Radio Journalist Hermit Hachilonde.

Speaking immediately after a two hour closed door meeting with the Inspector General of police Kakoma Kanganja at police force headquarters on 25th January, 2016, Mr. Hichilema stated that the political violence the country is currently witnessing will only end when president Lungu takes decisive pragmatic action against the perpetrators of the vice regardless of political affiliations.

The UPND leader further accused President Lungu of being comfortable with the ongoing political violence going by his deafening silence over the matter.

“I thank my colleagues and other members who are not here, Seniour members of the party for being clear in the meeting not only for UPND but for the 15 million Zambians, we want our freedom, we demand our freedom, nobody should stand on the way, we demand fairness, e demand a police service that is serving the people not facilitating PF cadres in brutalizing citizens no, you have seen who is perpetrating violence, it’s PF cadres, you saw that at the Ndola airport, this malicious and the police must do something, president Lungu wants violence to continue because he is a product of violence, that is how he became PF president! Through violence” Hakainde Hichilema said.

Meanwhile Mr. Hichilema says he expects professionalism in the manner the Zambia police service apply the Public Order Act.

“We expect that there will be change in the way the public order act is being administered” Hakainde Hichilema said
And Inspector General of police Kakoma kanganja in a statement made available to the media immediately after the meeting ended disclosed that the meeting was fruitful and it was resolved that police will not stop the UPND from exercising their freedom as long as they comply with the provisions of the law and order.

The inspector General of police also assured all political parties that police will do everything within its powers to make sure that the public order act is applied fairly and equally to all.

  1. It’s heart breaking for Zambians to be asking for freedom in their own country. Let’s get rid of these thugs, failures and visionless people from positions of responsibility. Where’s the leadership of this nation, where are we Zambians? Are we going to stand aloof and watch our country degenerate into chaos?

    • ‘President Lungu wants violence to continue because he is a product of violence, that is how he became PF president’………..kikikiki, I thought it was Miles Sampa’s group that was caught with pangas………anyway, we’re all products of something, just as you’re a product of tri balism.

  2. HH often makes a Grand Dictates outside Parliament. It would have helped him had he held a seat in Parliament. As it is he is making an ordinary citizen remark which …..if you blinked you’d not realise he was not the President of Zambia.

  3. SINKAMBA WISDOM – well spoken our in coming republican President HH. VIVA HH, VIVA UPND, VIVA Zambian people. Shame for Lungu Edgar to allow violence as his trade mark. HH and UPND are for peace while ECL and PF are for violence. Zambians have refused violence and that is how Edgar Lungu and Pf have lost the elections.
We pray for peace as a nation but pf and Edgar Lungu opts for violence shame on pf and Edgar lungu

  4. Will hh accept campaigns by other parties from day 1 of his becoming president for 5years. Imagine how difficult it will be to govern a state with everyone opposing every step you take. The behavior by this hh is nauseating to say the least. He behaves like Zambia is been governed by foregners and therefore want to drive them out. He feels he should be president come rain come sunshine and reason is best known to himself. I personally would love him to win in this global economic downturn do that he proves a failure in himself.
