STATE HOUSE OFFICIAL STATEMENT

LUSAKA, (Thursday, July 20, 2017)–Former President H.E Dr Kenneth Kaunda is stable and well enough to be discharged soon, doctors say.

The former President was on Wednesday July 19, admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) to be treated for a minor ailment.

He is stable enough and likely to be discharged after being observed further. Doctors have used this opportunity to conduct a comprehensive routine medical check-up that was going to be due soon.

He was brought to hospital when his minders reported that the former President appeared weak prompting the Minister of Health to deploy a specialist medical unit to check on him at his residence, who eventually brought him to hospital to check on him.

Following Dr Kaunda’s admission to hospital, State House has been inundated with frantic calls from foreign governments and international media especially in the wake of fake reports announcing the demise of the revered statesman. Some of the reports actually quoted the public broadcaster, ZNBC.

All media are hereby advised to maintain basic decency in their reporting and avoid such unethical conduct driven by a morbid mindset.

The Hon minister of health Dr Chitalu Chilufya will give an update the matter when necessary.

State House remains in constant contact with Dr Kaunda’s aides and doctors attending to him.

    • I like chanda but this should be coming from the family.

A wee bit like mwanawasa jogging in london springs to mind.

There is a lot more we are not being told.

      I have a PhD

      Thanks

    • So this time its ZNBC and not ZwDogs.
I still don’t understand why a disrespectful Amos Chanda is given a single even to announce anything on KK.
KK is something heavy, close to holiness, deserves highest respect.

    • At least his not jogging in London or meeting the president of Israel in Tel Aviv. He is in UTH. The only high profile Zambian who still has faith in our hospitals.

    • KK has a spokesperson! Why is Chanda getting excited? These are matters family representatives should deal with, not civil servants turned politicians!

  1. Thank you Mr. Chanda! God bless KK! The Man and our Man! I wish he were President or it was at that time, that small man could have been helped to learn to think! And these bloggers from Namwala too!

  2. Who can trust pf when they told us same about sata and yet the poor man was dying. Kk is not Mandela as he constantly aligned himself politically with pf so no point hiding the truth. It is not a sensitive international issus like madiba. Let lungu take his place better that way

  3. But Upndumpers are evil men. I did not think Zambia can have such people. Especially Tongaaa speaking people. How can wish someone death. Sure. These people are inhuman like their boss in prison. That is the reason why God did not allow allow these evil people to rule this beautiful country. Viva kk , viva ECL.

    • Go back to school and stop wasting people’s time here with your bushy English and rotten bigotry. Sha!

  4. LONG LIVE OUR FOUNDING FATHER OF THE NATION K.K.MAY YOU LIVE A LONG HEALTHY LIFE AND HELL TO THE FAKE REPORTERS ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA.WE LOVE YOU BIG MAN.THE GOVERMENT MUST STEP IN TO BRING HOAX REPORTERS BEFORE THE HIGH COURTS FOR WRITTING FAKE NEWS.ZONDA UZA LEMA CHABE VIVE BIG MAN SUPER KEN

  5. Kaunda had his ‘heroic failures’, like Nyerere. I say heroic because it was not for lack of trying. He had his failings as a political animal, yet compared to some of the characters that have come after him, he is a saint. Some bloggers are stating that it was not his money to invest, but he did INVEST. In the education of the nation, in medical facilities and in inculcating a sense of community spirit. He had his check ups at UTH whose standards were to behold. Today, where is the investment in state education and the health system? Politicians look after themselves and their own by seeking schooling and health elsewhere. Today we have a nation characterised by selfishness, individualism, negative ethnic sentiments and politics that has no civility or values. The younger generation has…

  6. Can we quickly re- introduce humanism week for KK to witness the reintroduction.I think it will give him alot of joy.
Get well soon selfless great leader….

    • Selfless? Ruling Zambia under a state of emergency for 27 years? Destroying institutions the British left and burning their good books that would have added value to our education system. Let’s be truthful and stop being hypocritical! He has been blessed with length of days to see the failed state he helped to create. Long live KK!

  7. Amos Chanda in my view has the authority to inform us about KK bcoz its not “Amos Chanda” Rather State hse press aid. Cheers me to note that is the importance of KK. Hes a national asset !!!! and befits national respect. Thanks!

  8. Amos looking smart on this picture. The only challenge is that he comments on everything. Some things are outside his jurisdiction but you find him commenting. This tells me that he is a talkative guy and impulsive. You find that he is police spokesperson, UTH Public Relation Officer, ACC Public Relation Officer, Judge, Prosecutor, innocent citizen who is falsely accused, name it.

  9. Let the man go to heaven and rest. He has done his work as a founding father, all this KK get well soon is malicious and self-centered. He probably misses his wife and his children are all grown ups. Let the man go in peace if he has to go. Thanks.
