One of Chishimba Kambwili’s grandest enemies is obviously not fellow human, but his type of a hippo mouth! At times, one is made to wonder whether Kambwili really takes time to analyze and process his thoughts before springing forth from his mouth. This has not only earned him a few enemies here and there, but equally landed in hot soup, hence being catapulted in jail eating beans and growing cabbages!
As several individuals jostled for selection as PF’s presidential candidates in this year’s general elections late last year; in his usual fashion, Kambwili dropped a clanger! He scaled the mountain tops and made earth shattering allegations Brian Mundubile, who has since emerged as the Tonse Alliance torch bearer in the presidential elections, was embroiled in shady road construction deals worth over K1.5 billion.
During a heated phone conversation with PF Northern Province publicity secretary Charles Kashishi that went viral on social media, Kambwili vowed to see to it that Mundubile was arrested, insisting he had all the proof needed to make Mundubile dance ‘pelete’ to the tune of the law.
This obviously attracted the attention of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). In no time. the outgoing Mporokoso member of parliament was summoned for questioning .by the ACC.
“I can confirm that ACC did summon Mr. Brian Mundubile, Mporokoso Member of Parliament, and he has since been interviewed,” ACC acting head of corporate communication, Chilufya Chisanga, confirmed to the media.
According to the ACC, the said road works involved Eastern, Western and Central Provinces which were never done.
But lo and behold, Kambwili has today made a 360 degrees about-turn and endorsed the very person he accused of corruption as Presidential candidate!
“I am standing as a PF candidate in Roan constituency on the CF ticket. Our aim this year is to remove UPND from power. If we say, we should all contest as presidential candidates in these elections; we won’t manage to defeat them. We all need to rally behind one leader and that leader is Brian Mundubile!” the man, known as Imbwili to his admirers ), declared as he joined Mundubile on the campaign trail in Mporokoso, Northern province.
What the heck is wrong with Zambian politicians? Did Kambwili believe in his own utterances? If at all he didn’t and he was just politicking, shouldn’t politicians have any semblance of shame at all in the manner they conduct themselves? What happened to basic morals in politics? Is the man who once bragged he had enough money to have breakfast in London, Lunch in Paris and dinner New York so dead broke he has to resort to sebana wikute?
As he would say, “insoni ebuntu!”
