Union President Expresses Concern Over Mundubile’s Remarks on Civil Servants

Civil Servants and Allied Workers Union of Zambia President Joy Beene says he is disappointed by remarks made by National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) leader Brian Mundubile suggesting that some civil servants would be dismissed if his party forms government.

Mr Beene said civil servants are employed to serve the government of the day regardless of which political party is in power.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Mr Beene said threatening civil servants reflects a lack of understanding of their role in the public service.

He urged civil servants to exercise caution as they prepare to vote in the forthcoming General Election.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview, Federation of Free Trade Unions of Zambia (FFTUZ) Secretary General Nelson Mwale called on civil servants to remain non-partisan in the execution of their duties.

Mr Mwale said maintaining political neutrality is essential for preserving public confidence and ensuring the effective delivery of public services.

He encouraged public service workers to continue carrying out their responsibilities professionally, regardless of the prevailing political environment.
