According to the little that we know about politics; it’s a game of contestation of ideas….the art of governance. Therefore, whoever claims to be a politician worth their salt is expected to offer the best solutions to address people’s challenges and problems.
Unfortunately, we seem to have a lot of charlatans and chancers masquerading as politicians in this country, with literally nothing to offer in terms of leadership save for jumping onto the podium to crack a few dry jokes or repeat clichéd wise sayings and they expect people to ululate and clap for them.
Take for instance one Chishimba Kambwili, the aspiring Roan member of parliament who has since abandoned his campaigns in Luanshya to join the Brian Mundubile campaign team. We haven’t heard him offer any tangible solutions which would end load shedding, reduce the cost of living or create youth employment apart from calling President Hichilema ugly names!
“Ulya HH nafilwa pantu alechemafye in’gombe….” Kambwili has been saying.
What a blatant insult! Is this the best politics has to offer?
For the benefit of those Kambwili, fresh from serving a prison sentence for issuing unpalatable tribal remarks, wants to mislead, we wish to say a few things about our President.
Before joining politics, Hichilema was Chief Executive Officer of Grant Thornton. This is one of the world’s leading professional services networks, operating across more than 150 markets. The firm is primarily known for providing audit, tax, and advisory services to dynamic, mid-to-large-sized businesses, private equity firms, and the public sector.
Does Kambwili possess any modicum of unquestionable credentials to work for such a prestigious institution?
Zero!
The only job that Kambwili is probably fit for is perhaps as an MP and later as Cabinet Minister, as we don’t seem to attach so much premium in this country, otherwise he’s not qualified for any job at Grant Thornton….. maybe as a toilet cleaner or driver!
Let’s have order in our political deliberations, bane.
Adios!
