Zesco headline Barclays Cup semifinal doubleheader

Zesco United continue their quest for an unprecedented sixth Barclays Cup title on Saturday when they face Napsa Stars in the 2017 semifinals at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

This will be the two sides’ third meeting in the competition.

Zesco lost the 2012 semifinal meeting 1-0 to Napsa but won the 2014 clash at the same level via a similar scoreine.

On both occasions, victor in those meetings went on to win the Barclays Cup.

Defending champions Zesco are chasing a record sixth Barclays Cup title while Napsa are seeking their second in the competitions’ ten-year history.

In the other semifinal the same venue, Lusaka Dynamos battle Zanaco for a place in the finals.

Dynamos and Zanaco have both never won the competition.
But Zanaco, who have never failed to qualify for the tournament, have never won the Barclays Cup.

Dynamos too have never won it and will be seeking their debut final appearance after three previous outings.
