THIS WAS ONE OF THE VERY FEWBEST PRESS CONFERENCES I HAVE EVER WATCHED AND LISTENED TO. CONGRATULATIONS MR PRESIDENT FOR BEING FACTUAL AND TO THE POINT. I LOVED THE FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE, TOO.

MY CONCLUSION AFTER LISTENING TO THE PRESS CONFERENCE IS THAT, ZAMBIA HAS SOME OF THE BEST AND KNOWLEDGEABLE PRESIDENTS IN THE WORLD. ECL IS A VERY HUNBLE BUT KNOWLEDGEABLE GUY. HE IS AN ELOQUENT SPEAKER, TOO. I AM LOVING ECL. HE IS ONE OF US. HE IS GREAT.

One thing I have noticed in this press conference is the lack of basic knowledge of our Constitution by Zambian media practitioners (journalists). Most of them kept on conflating the two Articles: Article 30 (DECLARATION OF PUBLIC/STATE EMERGENCY) and; Article 31 (DECLARATION RELATING TO THREATENED EMERGENCY.) The two are totally separate and different.

Journalists will do well to familiarize themselves with such an important Document (CONSTITUTION) if they wish to start asking our elected officials intelligent and probing questions. They don’t have to be experts at it, but at least have some idea of what the Constitution says. Maybe then we might start having some well written and researched News Broadcasts and NEWSPAPER articles. Zambians hunger for depth and seriousness from our…

      continue:

… scribes than what they have been getting so far—SPECULATIONS and SHALLOW HALF BAKED MEDIOCRE COVERAGE. All one has to do is look at the HEADLINES in certain Newspapers and Zambian blogs and see how they have MIS-CHARACTERIZED what the President said and proclaimed for you to understand what I am talking about.

To the Uninformed and those without any Curiosity at all:

ARTICLE 30: DECLARATION OF PUBLIC EMERGENCY
      1. The President may, in consultation with Cabinet, at any time, by Proclamation
published in the Gazette declare that a State of public emergency exists.

(Seven other subsection to this follow…you can read them by yourself)

ARTICLE 31: DECLARATION RELATING TO THREATENED EMERGENCY
      1. The President may at any time by the Proclamation published in…

      continue:

.. the Gazette declare that a situation exists which, if it is allowed to continue may lead to a
      state of public emergency.

(Seven other subsection to this follow…you can find and read them yourself)

Now, if you have members of the Media keep referring to what the President invoked as a “DECLARATION OF PUBLIC EMERGENCY,” how then do one expect the general public and Social Media nincompoops and trolls to know the difference? I however commend the President for taking his time to explain exactly what he did and the expectations thereof. He has done well to remove the unnecessary confusion and anxieties caused mostly by our “Media” (Print, Television and Cyber) NOT taking their RESPONSIBILITIES (Truth Telling without SPIN) seriously.

Zambian journalists are hopeless. We need first class UNib=versity graduates to do this job. None of them seems to see beyond the letter to ask proper questions, or did State House just invite the dunderheads?

God says respect your leaders, not only good ones, but even bad ones, let us be true Christians, the word of God is the same throughout, we can avoid a lot of quarrels and differences, lastly, is it not possible to have an opposition leader who is a dictator?

Poorly hastily organised …why should journalists march to a podium and be intimidated Amos to ask a single question; why not simply pass them a microphone. Where is the international media even KK used to invite them!!
