Today’s Message:Open Your Mouth

2

bibleToday’s Scripture

“…Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it…”
(Psalm 81:10, NLT)

Open Your Mouth

Do you have your mouth open wide today? In other words, are you expecting God to fill you and increase you beyond measure? Are ready for Him to satisfy your needs and desires with good things? Think about a baby bird. When they are ready to eat, they open their mouths wide. They trust that they will be fed. They expect it. They look for it. They are ready for it.

It should be the same way with us. We need to keep our spiritual mouths open by expecting the goodness of God to satisfy us. Negative thinking is like closing your mouth. A closed mouth can’t be filled. But Jesus is saying today, why don’t you take the limits off? Why don’t you trust and believe for supernatural opportunities?

That little bird waiting for food isn’t concerned about where the mother is going to get it from. It isn’t concerned about how she’s going to dig it up. No, that bird just opens its mouth, trusting and waiting. Why don’t you do the same today? Trust that God is working behind the scenes. Open your mouth wide today, you won’t be disappointed. God is faithful to His Word, and He will fill you and satisfy you when you put your trust in Him!

A Prayer for Today

“Father, I come to You today, asking You to fill my mouth. I choose to trust You even when I don’t understand how everything is going to work out. I know that You are a good God with a good plan for my life. Fill me with Your peace and patience as I humbly wait on You in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Republican Vice President Inonge Wina says the Patriotic Front led Government will for the next five years focus on improving agriculture countrywide if Zambians re-elect them in the forthcoming 2016 general elections, reports Pan African Radio Journalist Hermit Hachilonde.

Speaking when she addressed hundreds of PF supporters at a campaign rally in Chikankata District in the Southern Province, Ms. Wina reiterated the PF government’s commitment to uplifting the lives of citizens at household and national levels.

Ms. Wina explained that it is for this reason that the PF Administration will in their next five year mandate be devoted to agriculture as the mainstay of the country’s economy.

The Vice president stressed the need to harness agriculture in a bid to better the livelihood of Zambians.

“In the next five years the PF government will focus on improving agriculture” Ms. Wina said
And Ms Wina who is also PF candidate Edgar Lungu’s Presidential running mate in the forthcoming general polls said her party will ensure that deliberate policies are put in place to diversify the agriculture sector by encouraging farmers to embrace other crops as opposed to focusing on maize alone but also promoting livestock farming.

She said this is why the PF administration has embarked on building deep tanks countrywide especially in areas where water is a challenge.

“we will promote diversification in agriculture that is why we are building deep tanks in the country” she said

Speaking at the same event, Southern Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu urged Zambians not to experiment with national leadership.

Mr Mubukwanu said among the presidential candidates and their running mates, no one’s pedigree matches that of President Lungu and his team as they are more experienced in governing the nation.

He advised the electorate against voting the opposition as doing so will be done at their own peril.
The Provincial minister further warned that Zambians risk committing political suicide if they elect the opposition who barely have experience in presiding over national affairs.

“among all the presidential candidates and their running mates no one is more experienced like Edgar Lungu and Inonge wina, so Zambians should not risk giving a mandate to the opposition” he said
Meanwhile, Chikankata constituency PF parliamentary aspirant Kavwumbu Hakachima seized the opportunity Hakachima to unreservedly apologize to the people of Chikankata constituency who may have unknowingly and knowingly offended during her tenure of office as District Commissioner.

Ms. Hakachima who curbed her resentment and swallowed her pride pointed out that sometimes people offend others unintentionally, adding that humbling oneself to apologize to such individuals is cardinal for the sake of oneness as a people in the district and the country as a whole.
“I apologize to those I offended when I was a District Commissioner” she said

The Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) Namwala parliamentary candidate Charity Kabongomana is nursing serious injuries in Namwala Hospital including a broken leg and arm after being ambushed Friday.

In a statement released yesterday morning, FDD Spokesperson Antonio Mwanza said the act was perpetrated by the immediate past Member of parliament and her party cadres.

“Yesterday in Namwala, UPND cadres led by their Namwala aspiring candidate and immediate past Namwala MP, Madam Moono Lubezhi ambushed and brutally attacked our aspiring Namwala candidate, Madam Charity Kabongomana and her team breaking her arm and leg. She is agonizingly laying in pain at Namwala hospital. They further extensively damaged her vehicle and attempted to set it ablaze,” Mr. Mwanza said.

On Friday, the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) threatened to invoke its powers under Section 28 of the Electoral Process Act No 35 of 2016 which empowers the Commission to suspend campaigns if it considers it necessary for a credible election. The commission also cited Section 110 of the same Act that empowers the Commission to disqualify a political party or candidate in breach of the Electoral Code of Conduct.

Commission Public Relations Manager Cris Akufuna said It is unacceptable that at this stage of Zambia’s democracy political players should have blatant disregard for the Code of Conduct as has been exhibited by some political party supporters.

“The Commission therefore wishes to reiterate that it is the responsibility of all political parties participating in elections to restrain their members and cadres from provoking their opponents and inciting violence. It is also the responsibility of the Zambia Police Service to ensure that perpetrators of violence and anyone caught abrogating the Electoral Code of Conduct is dealt with firmly without fear or favour,” Mr. Akufuna said.

There has been no official reaction from the UPND in response to the incident or the allegations so far.

Government says it will continue with ongoing power imports from Mozambique despite increased power generation at Itezhi Tezhi power station.

ZESCO recently announced that the generation capacity at its Itezhi Tezhi Power station has increased to full capacity following a rapid improvement in water inflows.

He development has seen load shedding hours reduced from 8 to 4 Hours daily.

But Energy Permanent Secretary Emelda Chola said Government will not discontinue power imports because they are playing an integral part in the reduction in load shedding hours.

Brigadier General Chola revealed that Government cannot unilaterally cut the power importation contracts because they are binding for a year.

She said Government will only review them after the expiry of the initial one-year period.

Brigadier General Chola said Government is importing about 300 MegaWatts from three different entities and it would be irresponsible to cut the contracts mid-way.

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has called for unity in the party ahead of the August elections.

Mr Hichilema said was speaking Saturday afternoon when he addressed a well-attended rally at Mpezeni Park in Chipata as part of his tour of the Eastern Province.

Accompanied by his running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba and UPND Vice-President for Politics Dr. Canisius Banda, Mr. Hichilema championed the importance of team work and unity in the UPND.

He said the party should be united if it is to deliver its 10 Point Plan to fix the broken economy and economically liberate the Zambian people.

Mr. Hichilema spoke with passion about his ambitious plans for the agriculture sector.

He accused the PF government of failing to treat it as a priority area, despite the great potential and the high number of Zambians working in the sector.

This lack of commitment, seen in the reduced share of government spending on agriculture, from 7.8% in 2008 to 3.2% of the national budget in 2016, has resulted in the difficulties farmers are facing today, the UPND leader charged, including high input costs, later delivery of fertilizer and a lack of support to access markets.

Mr. Hichilema appealed to the crowds that as a farmer himself he is ready to lead Zambians and move the sector forward.

He said there is need to create a thriving agriculture sector that would create jobs for many, increase incomes and decrease food prices all at the same time.

The UPND leader also spoke of his desire to kick-start value-addition projects in the area so that the people can earn more from their agriculture produce, giving the example of using groundnuts to make peanut butter, which is currently imported by the major supermarkets in the country.

In addition to the two UPND Vice-Presidents, Mr. Hichilema was also accompanied by MMD President Dr. Nevers Mumba, UPND Chairperson Mutale Nalumango, and other party leaders.

The UPND leader’s tour of Eastern Province will continue into next week and today he is expected in Chadiza, Kalemba and Chilenga.

Zesco knockout Al Ahly

13

Creative international midfielder Cletus Chama grabbed a brace as Zesco United launched the 2016 CAF Champions League group stage with a 3-2 win over Egyptian giants Al Ahly at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday.

Chama scored his second half brace in the 49th and 55th minutes to hand the Ndola side a rare win over the record Champions League winner.

Zesco led after 27 minutes with John Ching’andu powering in the first goal after beating Ahly keeper Sherif Ekramy Ahmed with a powerful shot when he was set up by Anthony Akum.

However Zesco’s celebrations were cut short by John Antwi’s equaliser three minutes later as the two teams went to the half time break with a 1-1 stalemate.

Four minutes into the last half, George Lwandamina’s side went up again thanks to Chama’s close range tap in a goal-mouth scramble.

Chama made it 3-1 on 55 minutes when firing in a low shot before Antwi scored Ahly’s second goal in the game.

Thereafter Zesco defended well on their way to beating the Egyptians.

This is a fantastic start for the ambitious Zesco side that is making only a second appearance in the group stages of Africa’s premier club championship.

Zambia must win Cosafa- Joseph Musonda

International defender Joseph Musonda says Zambia should win the 2016 Cosafa Castle Cup as consolation for failing to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Lifting of the ban on Zambian registered airlines will boost economy-EU

12

The European Union says the lifting of the ban on Zambian registered airlines into the EU airspace will provide immediate economic benefits to Zambia.

The EU delegation in Zambia says travel agents across the globe now have information that the country’s airlines are safe.

EU Head of Delegation Alessandro Mariani says this will see an increase in the number of tourist inflow because international tourists will now be able to have confidence in using local airlines.

Mr Mariani says travel agents will now be able to process flights for European tourists to Zambia because travel insurance would not cover that.

He has attributed the lifting of the ban to a number of solid works over the years.

Speaking during a briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Mr. Mariani also revealed that Zambia’s Civil Aviation Authority has an opportunity to benefit 3-million Euros in support from the EU aimed at assisting it improve safety performances, regulation and training o

He said the EU is also working on a new program with the Ministry of Transport and Communication and Civil Aviation Authority worth 5 POINT 6 million Euros as part of further consolidating air safety in Zambia.

Transport and Communication Permanent Secretary Misheck Lungu is optimistic that the resumption of Zambian registered airlines flying into the EU airspace will boost exports of fresh agro produce.

He said current development projects like airports and a national airline being undertaken are coming up at the right time when the ban which lasted for 7 years has been lifted.

And Civil Aviation Authority Director General Gabriel Lesa said the lifting of the ban is a reflection of the hard work by authorities which has now made airlines in Zambia and Africa even safer.
