MMD Women National Chairperson Faustina Sinyangwe has warned her predecessor Catherine Namugala to desist from issuing unwarranted attacks on the MMD leadership.

Mrs. Sinyangwe said Ms. Namugala is no longer a member of the MMD following her expulsion and that her attempts to call for a national convention are lacking in the ideals provided for in the party constitution.

She said Ms Namugala’s motives to fight the MMD through a parallel structure are an act of selfishness and will not yield positive results.

Mrs. Sinyangwe added that for as far as the MMD is concerned, the next national convention will take place in 2016 and that there is no crisis that would warrant an extra ordinary National executive Committee (NEC) convention.

Mrs. Sinyangwe was speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka this morning.

And speaking at the same occasion, MMD national treasurer Mwansa Mbulakulima has clarified that MMD president Nevers Mumba is not on any salary or allowance for being party president.

Mr. Mbulakulima who is also Chembe Member of Parliament said Dr. Mumba’s services as party president are purely out of sacrifice.

He said allegations by Ms. Namugala that the MMD leader is demanding more contributions from MMD parliamentarians to sustain his lucrative life are unfounded.

Crucified 11 year old boy out of danger and discharged from Hospital

25

THE 11 -year -old boy that was allegedly ‘nailed’ to a tree by a 35 year old man in Chisamba, Central province has been discharged from hospital.

The boy had his hands and feet nailed to a tree after his assailant tied him with a rope for allegedly stealing his catapults as part of the punishment.

Acting Central provincial Medical Officer Abel Kabalo said the boy who was nailed by Stanley Chinyama was out of danger and that there was no need to keep him in hospital.

“I want to confirm that the boy was treated and has been discharged though he had the sign of nail wounds in the palms and legs, “Dr Kabalo said.

Last week Central Province Police Commissioner Standwell Lungu confirmed the arrest of a man who is alleged to have crucified a boy from Kapini area in Chisamba over catapults.

At the time the boy was found, he was unconscious and was only rescued by his parents who rushed to the scene after they were informed by a friend to the boy who witnessed the nailing while hiding in the nearby bush.

Mr Lungu said the boy was earlier dragged to the nearby bush around 12.00 hours where Mr Chinyama tied him to the tree with a belt and started nailing him.

“It is shocking that in this time and age, someone could act in such a manner to a defenseless boy and as police we will continue ensuring that those involved in such acts face the law,” Mr Lungu said.

The boy could not scream for help because the suspect had threatened to kill him but a friend to the boy who was watching from afar went to report to his parents who later rushed to the scene.

Mr Lungu said the suspect has since been arrested and charged with unlawful wounding and would appear in court soon.

Chanda Mbao’s single “open your eyes” climbs up the charts

chanda-mbao-1

US based Zambian rapper Chanda Mbao released a new song “Open your eyes” which is currently number 9 on the DJBooth.net independent charts–right after Talib Kweli and before Mac Miller.

Making his DJBooth debut (which is a top 5 blog in the U.S), the Zambia native introduces himself with an enlightening cut off his forthcoming project release. Backed by a fluttery beat from Sam the Kid that is powered by a dope piano riff, Mbao takes aim at the systems that look to manipulate and disenfranchise the common man with a crisp, fluid flow.  Fans of educated hip-hop can find more conscious cuts on Mbao’s Desiderata mixtape, set to drop this spring.

Power Dynamos failed to emulate Zanaco in Africa today when they were booted out of the Confederation Cup.

The Kitwe giants fell 2-0 away to CR Caala of Angola in Huambo this afternoon.

Caala wiped out a 1-0 deficit from the first leg played on February 17 in Kitwe to advance 2-1 on aggregate.

The group accused Dr. Mumba of requesting Members of Parliament to increase their contributions aimed at supporting his flamboyant lifestyle at the expense of reorganise the party.

Mrs. Namugala accused Dr. Mumba of having a lavish lifestyle hence asking MPs to increase their contributions to the party so that he can sustain his lifestyle.

She added that Dr. Mumba’s behaviour has shown that he is uncaring and does not have the interests of the party at heart because most of the MPs are fighting electoral petitions which are costly.

Ms. Namugala said her group is calling for a national convention to elect new office bearers with a fresh mandate to mobilise the party to its former status.
