UPND President Hakainde Hichilema on Monday afternoon spent time interacting with Marketeers at Chelstone Market and enjoyed a plate of Nshima served with Chibwabwa, Delele and Fresh Fish.

And Mr Hichilema has called for an end to victimisation of UPND members in markets by PF cadres.

He said marketeers regardless of their political affiliation have continued paying taxes.

Mr Hichilema said the UPND would have empowered marketeers with affordable loans, proper shelter and not suppression and victimization.

“With the little time we had, we listened to the several challenges our marketeers are going through. We would have spent more time with them but due to the constrained environment under PF, as far as freedom of association and freedom of assembly is concerned, we could only manage a few minutes which our people understood,” Mr Hichilema said.

“It is now becoming normal when it shouldn’t be that each day that comes by, women and youth are being victimized in markets on the of holding a different view on governance and economic development.”

He said, “We wish to inform the nation that even under these very difficult circumstances, we will continue to interact with each one of you whenever we can but more so to reiterate our economic emancipation vision. Otherwise we had a nice meal of chibwabwa, delele, and fresh fish.”

“Zambians can never trust ECZ, Lungu, and Councourt,” says GBM

47

United Party For National Development (UPND) vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has said that Zambians can never trust Electoral Commission of Zambia, President Edgar Lungu, the Constitutional Court (Concourt) and High Court judges anymore.

Mr Mwamba who is popularly known as GBM said the above  parties have denied the Zambians credible and capable leadership of UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and himself.

He said with escalating high levels of poverty that the country is experiencing under the PF government, the Zambians are angry with president Edgar Lungu and individuals as well as institutions that helped PF to rig the 2016 presidential elections.

“Ba ECZ [abena Priscilar na Chulu], nama judge ba mu Konikoti namu Hayi koti pamo pene na Edgar wine, abena Zambia tabaka mwelele pakubalalika insala nomulandu wabun`go bwenu [the ECZ [Priscilar and Judge Chulu], Concourt and High court judges together with president Lungu Zambians will never forgive you for stealing their victory,”  he said.

Mr Mwamba said Zambians will never be happy with the PF government because it is an illegal government that is imposing itself on people that rejected it.

Mr Mwamba has since challenged president Edgar Lungu to go to the polls again with Hakainde Hichilema to see how legitimate his government is.

“The PF government is only the government of ECZ and PF members and not the Zambians who voted for my president HH. Am challenging Edgar to go for elections again with my president we see whether he can manage to get even ten votes from any polling station in Chawama, he is now an enemy of his own people and even himself because of incompetence,” he  said.

“Edgar lost and he is not my president, my president is Hakainde Hichilema [he is the only right man for the position and the only legitimate Zambia`s Republican President and not Edgar,”added Mr Mwamba.

The ruling Patriotic Front has warned longstanding party members against overstretching their right to exercise freedom of expression and opinion on party issues.

PF Deputy Spokesperson Frank Bwalya has particularly advised position holding senior party members to be cautious not to bring the name of the party into disrepute through their utterances.

Mr. Bwalya says any such member that uses their position to make utterances that bring the name of the party into disrepute is liable for disciplinary action.

In an interview with QTV News, Mr. Bwalya says the disciplinary action will range from verbal warning, suspension and expulsion from the party depending on gravity of the case.

Mr. Bwalya, however, says this does not mean the ruling party does not respect members that have suffered for the party since formation.

He notes founding members deserve respect, but do not on the other hand have a right to close the door for other new members who want to join the ruling PF.

Mr. Bwalya states that no members, whether founding or not, is in fact allowed to disrespect any new member by using the reality that they have been in the party the longest.

Rising Hip-Hop talent, Chanda Mbao, seems to be having quite the start to 2017! We recently covered the announcement of his endorsement deal with NeoNova Technologies and just a week later we see his video from 2016, Selfish, winning the CBC Television Choice Hip-Hop Video of the Year.

For those who haven’t seen it, Chanda Mbao’s ‘Selfish’ is a video that was released in May 2016 and stars the Namibian former Big Brother damsel, Maria Nepembe. With a moving story of a man who almost loses the love his life to workaholic lifestyle, the video is especially poignant with its surprise ending.

Chanda & Maria

The video was a hit with both women and men in 2016, garnering over 54,000 YouTube views to date and sending Chanda Mbao and his collaborator, Scott, into the mainstream eye at an unprecedented pace. We found the execution of the video especially impressive as Chanda Mbao himself wrote the script and organized the video’s entire budget, mostly through self-financing. For an independent artist with no manager, the level of execution was extremely laudable.

As a celebration of the award and a thank you to the fans who helped them win it, Chanda Mbao and Scott, released a new song called ‘Wave’ the very next day, which is available on Mvesesani, a pioneering Zambian download platform. As one of the tracks on the rapper’s upcoming mixtape, The Patriot, we are proud to see him supporting local companies through his endorsement as well as this move to distribute content through Mvesesani.

Download the song HERE:

Chanda told us to stay tuned for The Patriot, which will be launched in mid-April with a surprise launch event which he will be announcing soon through his social media. We will be staying tuned and encourage you to do the same!

In The Kitchen With Kanta :Southern fried Chicken

7

In-The-Kitchen-With-Kanta-Logo (1)

This week I decided to share another one of my recipes from my TV show “Kanta’s Kitchen”; which airs on Zambezi Magic, DStv channel 160.  This Southern Fried Chicken recipe is delicious and very easy to follow.  I have always loved Southern Fried Chicken; and I love it even more now that I can make it at home.  So if you haven’t already seen this recipe from my show, here it is for you to try out.

Prep 15 mins | Cook 20 mins

Serves: 2

For the coleslaw

  • 2 Carrots
  • ½ a Red cabbage
  • 2 tsps Vinegar
  • 2 tsps Sugar
  • 2 tbsps Mayonnaise
  • ½ Red onions

For the Chicken

  • 4 Chicken legs
  • 2 Eggs
  • Paprika
  • Salt
  • Flour

Method

Season the chicken with salt, pepper and paprika.  Mix well making sure every piece of chicken is well marinated.

Break the eggs into a bowl and whisk them.  Roll each piece of chicken into the egg followed by the flour, making sure each piece is fully coated.  For a thicker coating, roll each piece of chicken in the egg and flour again.

Heat the oil, on a medium – high heat.  Make sure it is hot enough to fry, by adding a piece of bread to it, if it sizzles then the oil is ready.  Gently add each piece of chicken into the pan, cook the chicken on both sides, until golden brown and cooked through.  When cooked there should be no pink colour left inside the chicken, and it should be 75 degrees C in the centre.

Remove the chicken from the frying pan and allow it to drain. Whilst the chicken drains grate your cabbage, and carrots, add some of your chopped onions, add mayonnaise, vinegar and sugar; and mix well.  If you want your coleslaw to be a bit sweeter add a bit more sugar, but always make sure you add equal amounts of vinegar and sugar.

Serving

Plate up your food and serve with some nice chunky chips.  Season, with some extra salt and pepper and enjoy.

King of Lozi people, the Litunga taking a majastic Royal Walk called ‘ Kutambokisa’ from his Royal palace at Limulunga to the Kuta for a rare but coloful ceremony called Choliso Yama Nduna ( the instalation of new indunas)
Chief Mwanatete of the Nkoya speaking people in Luampa District in Western province says his chiefdom locally known as Kahumbu Kuta is in full support of the Litunga of Western Province Lubosi Imwiko II.

However , some indunas in the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) structures that includes Sub-Chiefs have disproved the Litunga’s
leadership and have since called for his immediate resignation.

Chief Mwanatete says it is for this reason his Kuta has distanced itself from the Indunas who have sued the Litunga for alleged gross incompetence and abuse of authority.

“We want to assure the Litunga and his Kuta that our people are in support of His reign,” Chief Mwanatete said.

ZANIS reports that Chief Mwanatete said in an interview at his palace that his subjects in Luampa district in particular have seen unprecedented development the Litunga’s reign has brought in the area.

He said the Litunga has great influence to the creation of Luampa as a District due to his cordial relationship with the government.

“It is due to this influence that government services such as Health, Education and Agriculture has been brought closer to the people of Luampa,” Chief Mwanatete.

He said during the Litunga’s reign Western Province has received nine new districts than in other provinces and Luampa is one of those
districts.

“We wish to encourage His Royal Highness to remain calm and leave everything in the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Chief Mwanatete

Meanwhile, some indunas in the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) structures that includes Sub-Chiefs have disproved the Litunga’s leadership and have since called for his immediate resignation.

It has been alleged that since the Litunga’s inception into power on the 13th of October 2000, has always been prioritizing his personal interests and pays little attention to the governance system of his rulership within which the Barotse Royal Establishment was anchored.

And Induna Nabiwa Imikendu has described the Litunga as a stumbling block to the development of Western Province.

The notice of motion for the Litunga Lubosi Imwiko the second to resign has been filed-in at the Mongu High Court by four Indunas namely; Litia Charles Mutemwa, Mukubesa Ilukena, Nabiwa Imikendu and Mumbisho Liswanio.
