ECZ Cancels By-Elections In Kabushi and Kwacha Constituencies

24

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has indefinitely cancelled the By-Elections in Kabushi and Kwacha Constituency which were slated for 15th September, 2022.

According to a press statement issued by the Electoral Commission of Zambia Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga, informing all electoral stakeholders and the general public that the decision to cancel the By-elections in the two constituencies is based on the ruling delivered by the High Court on 13th September, 2022, staying or suspending the election for Kabushi and Kwacha Constituencies respectively.

Brief facts of the matter are that, on 13th September, 2022, the High Court passed a ruling ordering the Electoral Commission of Zambia to postpone the parliamentary By-elections in Kabushi and Kwacha constituencies and hold fresh nominations, this is in a matter involving former Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo and the former Kwacha Member of Parliament Joseph Malanji who made an appeal to the High Court after the Constitutional Court confirmed their right and eligibility to re-contest the By-elections which were slated for 15th September, 2022 but the Electoral Commission of Zambia rejected their nomination papers stating that the duo does not qualify to re-contest in the forthcoming By-elections because their seats were nullified thus causing a vacancy in the National Assembly.

The Commission backed up their stance referring to Article 72 (4) of the Constitution of Zambia Amendment Act No. 2 of 2016 will therefore, not accept nominations from any candidates who caused a vacancy in the National Assembly.

“Article 72 (4) of the Constitution of Zambia Amendment Act No. 2 of 2016 states that (2) The office of a Member of Parliament becomes vacant if member; (h) is disqualified as a result of a decision of the Constitutional Court; (4) A person who causes a vacancy in the National Assembly due to the reasons specified under clause (a), (b), c, d, g, and h shall not, during the term of that Parliament (a) be eligible to contest an election.”

But the Law Association of Zambia argued with the stance by the Electoral of Commission of Zambia stating that the court merely nullified the seats of the duo without disqualifying them from taking part in the By-elections.

Furthermore, according to the Constitutional Court decision in The Law Association of Zambia vs The Attorney General 2021/CCZ/0051, where this issue was addressed, the Court stated that a nullification of a seat by the court is distinct and not the same thing as disqualification of a person.

The Constitutional Court nullified Bowman Lusambo’s seat citing electoral malpractices and violence, while Joseph Malanji seat was nullified citing that he does not possess a grade twelve (12) certificate.

Despite the ongoing chaos in the political sphere, the United Party for National Development (UPND) embarked on massive campaigns in both Kabushi and Kwacha constituencies with President Hakainde Hichilema taking a tour in the two constituencies on a five-day door-to-door campaign.

And during the campaign President Hichilema led campaign team met with various electorates, and the President assured the electorates of various reforms to be put in place in the two constituencies.

In Kitwe’s Kafue Park residential area, President Hichilema called for an immediate end to the illegal allocation of land as he warned the perpetrators that stern action will be taken against them. has called for an immediate end to the rampant illegal allocation of land in Kitwe’s Kafue Park residential area.

The President promised infrastructure development in areas such as Chantente that lack proper roads, schools and health facilities.

President Hakainde also pledged to run his administration in a transparent and well-calculated manner that will ensure real development.

But the move by President Hichilema to campaign was condemned by the Socialist Party President Fred M’member stating that the five-day door-to-door campaign President Hichilema embarked on was at a very high expense to the taxpayer.

And the Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) President Sean Tembo noted with concern the statement made by President Hichilema on Radio Ichengelo two days ago, stating that the only way his Govt can deliver development to the people of Kwacha and Kabushi is if they vote for UPND candidates.

Mr Tembo cited that such a statement is not only an affront to democracy but exemplifies the extent to which Mr Hichilema is a shallow-minded President.

Mr Tembo mentioned that the President should be reminded that the money which his government uses to take development to the people is contributed by taxpayers of different political affiliations including those from PeP, UPND, PF, Socialist, and therefore, the President has no right to segregate against constituencies that are held by opposition Members of Parliament.

Mr Tembo added that Mr Hichilema should be further reminded that the Zambian people have a right to affiliate with a political party of their choice without fear of persecution or reprisals, thus President Hichilema must immediately withdraw his threats of reprisals which he issued against the people of Kwacha and Kabushi. Going forward, the President should desist from issuing shallow-minded statements.

The ex-Nigeria international will be in Zambia to take over as the new head coach of the Super League giants.

Details of his contract are sketchy at the time of this report but the former Tanzania senior national team head coach will be on his way to the Zambia capital, Lusaka in the next few days to resume duty

Changala says DPP is under siege as Siyunyi says her life is under threat

11

Human rights defender Brebner Changala says Director of Public Prosecutions Lilian Siyunyi has been unfairly treated.

And Ms. Siyunyi says her life is in danger after the government withdrew all her security.
Speaking on the Red Hot Breakfast Show on Wednesday, Mr Changala said the office of the DPP is under siege by President Hakainde Hichilema and his close allies.

“We know they have always wanted her out, infact, they approached her through some emissaries that she vacates office and haver her appointed as a Judge in the Court of Appeal but before that process was concluded, they started scandalising her over the Milingo issue which they themselves caused when they agreed to meet Ms. Siyunyi and Milingo and offered him immunity,” Mr Changala said.

Mr Changala said withdrawing security from Ms. Siyunyi when she is still in office is unfortunate.

“The fact remains that Ms. Siyunyi is still the DPP and she should be allowed to enjoy the full benefits that come with that office until such a time when she vacates the office.”

Mr. Changala has since advised Ms. Siyunyi to go ahead and testify before the Judicial Complaints Commission in order to protect her name.

In a BBC interview, Ms. Siyunyi, who was appointed by the previous government, has fallen out with the new administration and is a subject of complaints against her professional conduct at the Judicial Complaints Commission (JCC).

She has refused to appear before the JCC arguing that her constitutional oath of secrecy first needed to be lifted by President Hakainde Hichilema before she could appear before the body.

As one of highest constitutional office holders in Zambia, the DPP swears an oath of secrecy which in part reads: “I will not directly or indirectly reveal or transmit any information or matter as shall be made known to me by reason of my office except as may be required in the discharge of my duties as such or with the authority of the president.”

Ms Siyunyi told the BBC that both the president and the attorney general had denied her request.

She complained that despite the waiver being denied, the JCC had proceeded with the hearing of the complaints against her.

Ms Siyunyi added that if she responded to any of the charges against her before the lifting of her oath of secrecy, she would be breaking the constitution and committing a crime.

“I have had to escape from home on more than three occasions” after threats from known ‘operatives’.”

“I am not at all saying that I am above the law but that there must be total compliance with the provisions of the constitution of Zambia which we all must uphold if we are to uphold the rule of law and protect human rights for all,” she said.

Presidential spokesperson, Anthony Bwalya in a brief statement said, “The DPP issue is before the JCC for further determinations. We will not allow the President and the Presidency to be unduly drawn into this matter.”

UPND Sesheke MP Kang’ombe attacks Judges, asks President HH to clean up system

45

UPND Sesheke Member of Parliament Romeo Kang’ombe has sensationally attacked the integrity of the Zambian judiciary by claiming that some Judges and Magistrates are still PF sympathisers.

Mr. Kang’ombe’s statement follows a High Court decision to grant a stay to former MPs Bowman Lusambo and Joe Malanji for Kabushi and Kwacha bye elections respectively for the ECZ to halt the elections.

In a Facebook post, Mr Kang’ombe claimed that Zambia still have magistrates and Judges who openly say they will never jail a PF member.

“We had almost the entire system that never wanted the President to be closer to the corridors of power. We have the same Judiciary which dribbled us in 2016 and expect it to be impartial. It’s like expecting Satan to Repent. God doesn’t help those who do not help themselves,” he said.

Mr Kang’ombe claimed that the Zambian people will never be mad with us for acting accordingly because that’s what they wanted and expected from the one go, clean and clean the system.

“We changed Presidency, Cabinet, PSs and DCs. The entire rank and file is one that is totally soiled in corruption and can’t be trusted to help in the cause. We talk to the ground on a daily basis, their sentiments are indefensible. We are core leaders in this and we need to complement each other.”

He added, “The insulation around Presidency is unfortunately going to cost all of us. I’m still traumatized by some events in the past and I have never used emotions in my precisions. This isn’t for HE to act alone, many appointees have the power, in a smart way do the needful.”

“Some of us do not want any appointment but be of service through the existing Privileges we have and as such, I will not be shy to speak and offer my village advice. That walk of shame by the President is unacceptable and should have been avoided. You can’t subject the Presidency to such kind of treatment noooo Where are the Intelligence Appointees and agencies? Are they with You Sir?,” he questioned.

He added, “Trust your soldiers who have been with you on the battlefields. We speak with the less privileged ones, we speak with the true Zambians who are suffering. Their expectations could have been achieve the Ruto way.”

He said that further investigations revealed that the victims are believed to have been murdered elsewhere and dumped in Kanyimbo Village.

Mr Hamoonga added that the victims’ nationality is yet to be established as the Zambia Police Service Officers in Nakonde together with their counterparts in Tanzania have launched investigations into the heinous act.

“More Police Officers have been deployed in the area to help with the search, and investigations are ongoing,” Mr Hamoonga stated

Meanwhile, the Zambia Police Service in Lusaka has arrested and detained an employer for allegedly sodomizing his garden boy.

The employer has been identified as Dorras Ricardo aged 42 years of unmarked plot number in Lilayi area, while the victim (garden boy) is identified as Bright Kunolu Simasiku aged 31 years of unmarked plot number in Lilayi area.

On Monday, 12th September, 2022, Chawama Police Station received a report of Sodomy from Mr Bright Kunolu, that his employer Mr Dorras Ricardo did have canal knowledge with him against the Order of Nature (Sodomy).

Mr Hamoonga explained that, brief facts of the matter are that Mr Simasiku is employed by Mr Ricardo as a Garden Boy and stays within the vicinity of the yard he operates from, and it is alleged that on 10th September, 2022 at around 23:00 hours, the victim whilst asleep in his apartment heard Mr Ricardo getting into his room and ordered him not to shout and forced him to have carnal knowledge with him against the Order of Nature.

“The suspect is detained in Police custody charged with the offence of Unnatural Offences contrary to Section 155 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia,” Mr Hamoonga stated

Lubinda questions HH’s prudence to go campaigning and chides ECZ for secretly printing the ballot papers

19

Acting President of the Patriotic Front Given Lubinda has question the prudence of Republican President Hakainde Hichilema to President Hichilema to go and campaign for five days in Kwacha and Kabushi when he knew that the matter was before the court.

Speaking after the decision by the High Court to grant Hon. Bowman Chilosha Lusambo and Hon Joseph Malanji, a stay for the Kabushi and Kwacha by-elections not to proceed on Thursday, Mr Lubinda said that the decision by the High Court will definitely cut short President Hichilema’s five day working visit on the Copperbelt which he has used to campaign for his candidates in the two Constituencies.

Mr Lubinda commended his party members for standing by the decision to maintain the duo despite various statements from some named civil Society Organisations and government officials that the party must find other candidates, adding that never shall any dictator decide on which candidate must be fielded on the ballot papers by opposition political parties.

“Hakainde Hichilema did not want us to have Malanji and Lusambo on the ballot papers, but we have shown him that using the law of the land, he can not do it,” he said.

Mr Lubinda also castigated the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) for quickly Printing ballot papers without the involvement of stakeholders. He has since advised the ECZ against being used by a political hand.

“The money ECZ used to print ballot papers is taxpayers’ money. What gave you the speed to go ahead and print ballot papers without stakeholders being involved? President Hakainde you have been telling the entire world that you are going to be governed by the rule of law. Rule of law also entails that the ECZ must be autonomous,” he said adding that Zambians will turn up in numbers to show that they do not want a dictator.

Mr Lubinda also heaped praise on the Judiciary for not bowing to pressure from the executive arm of Government.

“There is no doubt in my mind that there were putting pressure on you. The evidence was seen when the Minister of Justice, came to court and sat as if he was an official of the court. ….As Minister of Justice, you superintend on the justice of everybody. On that day, the Minister of Justice decided to go against the rights of Lusambo and Malanji by sending a Minister to go and sit together with the attorney Generals Chambers. He has no power to do that,” he said.

“We are happy that we still have some judges who hold their oath of office as an important oath. We will always respect the Judiciary unlike what Mr Hakainde Hichilema used to do,” he said

Meanwhile, there has been no official word from the ECZ on the next course of action on the upcoming Kwacha and Kabushi by elections. Reports have surfaced alleging that the ECZ staff held a meeting to go ahead with the elections tomorrow.

According to Radio Icengelo, the Commission held a briefing with the media, election agents and police ahead of the Kabushi parliamentary by-election yesterday explaining how the process would be done despite candidates from both Kabushi and Kwacha withdrawing.

Kabushi Constituency returning Officer Elias Mwalaba facilitated the briefing held at Ndola Primary School and Copperbelt Provincial Electoral Officer McClaude Nyirenda was also in attendance.

UPND must stop interfering with the work of the Electoral Commission of Zambia -GBM

6

THE UPND must stop interfering with the work of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) because it will backfire on them as they will not be in power forever, Patriotic Front PF Member of the Central Committee Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has said.

Mr Mwamba said this today after the High Court granted Hon. Bowman Chilosha Lusambo and Joseph Malanji a stay for the Kabushi and Kwacha Parliamentary by-elections NOT to proceed until the matter is determined.

He has since described the decision as a step in the right direction.

Mr Mwamba said the UPND are trying to stop Malanji and Lusambo from participating in the Kwacha and Kabushi by-elections because duo is popular in their respective Constituencies.

“Justice has prevailed today, the UPND should just leave the matter and meet in the battlefield with malanji in Kwacha and Lusambo in Kabushi. They want to stop them because they are popular. They are annoying more people, even those who did not want to vote for Malanji or Lusambo will definitely vote for them because they are seeing what the UPND is doing,” he said.

And Chairman for Legal George Chisanga has accused the UPND of trying to intimidate other participants in the electoral process.

“If you heard what happened first, the UPND cadres went to the press and threatened the ECZ that if they were going to receive nomination from Malanji and Lusambo they will be taken to task. From that threat, ECZ curved in and issued the statement which has led us this far….,” he said.

Hon Chisanga has expressed happiness that the court has decided to protect the Constitution and the players in the electoral process.

“We are fighting this battle because of posterity for the nation. We are expectant that we are going to be guided. There is no way that a group of people can try to remove other people from the ballot papers because they do not like them. We would like to ensure that the election is credible, fair and free,” he said.

President Kenyatta more obsessed with foisting a successor than accounting for the gloomy economy he leaves behind.

7

By Edward Chisanga

Mapongezi, President Ruto.

I hope this means congratulations, Mr. President.

Perhaps not entirely his fault, but attribution equally to the devasting effect of Covid 19. That’s how I would characterize Kenya’s outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handling of the economy he leaves behind, as his final term of office finally reaches the appropriate stopping point this year. His flaw is that he leaves a legacy of caring more about choosing his successor than the sick economy he leaves behind.

I congratulate you, President Ruto, in particular because I was deeply grieved at the mental suffering and embarrassment you went through as an ‘ostracized Vice President’ by your own President, a distressing precedent in Africa only he understands. In the midst of all afflictions and adversities, you moved forward, confident of your innocence and Kenyans’ support. I read, “Ruto, the ambitious 55-year-old clawed his way to the center of power by playing on his religious faith and humble beginnings selling chickens by the roadside. Your predecessor easily clawed his way by playing on a silver spoon in his mouth.

If your predecessor had positives, congratulations. But, Odongo Kodongo sites Uhuru’s negatives. He states, “The country’s performance on job creation was weak, with unemployment rates worsening by 2.93% from 2.81% in 2013 to 5.74% in 2021. Weak job creation is explained by the not-so-robust economy. Between 2013 and 2021, Kenya’s economic growth of GDP averaged 4.4% while tax revenues stagnated at approximately 14.8% of GDP. Uhuru and Ruto’s most prominent economic legacy is runaway public debt, whose growth has not been commensurate with economic performance.”

He’s leaving you with eroding GDP per capita

Let me compliment Odongo by providing more detail on three economic indicators to illustrate my verdict on the outgoing President Kenyatta. I use (i) Inflation, (ii) Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita and Foreign Direct Investment. My methodology is to largely use Unctadstat statistics.

First, during Kenyatta’s rule, the annual inflation rate in Kenya accelerated for the sixth consecutive month to 8.5% in August 2022, slightly below market forecasts of 8.6% but remaining above the ceiling of the central bank’s target range (World Bank). Second, for the available data I show Kenya’s growth of per capita GDP. Experts explain that GDP per capita is the economic output of a country per person. In this case, it is about Kenyans. It explains the prosperity of a country by economic growth per person in this case in Kenya. It measures the amount of money earned per person in Kenya. If it’s important, it means that it must grow.

But Figure 1 below shows that its growth during Kenyatta’s terms was mixed. In particular, trend in growth shows a downturn from 3% in 2018 down to minus 2.5% in 2020. Therefore, President Kenyatta leaves office with shuttered and ailing GDP per capita that debilitates Kenyans’ purchasing power. This should have been his major concern instead of grooving for a successor…. a miscalculation that has left him politically wounded, perhaps permanently.

He’s leaving you with diminishing Foreign direct investment

Third, he leaves an economy with evanescing foreign direct investment (FDI). He inherited robust inward FDI of over $2 billion from his predecessor in 2011-2012 shown in Figure 2 below but only to let it slip his hands, down to less than $500 million in 2021. Complementing local investment with FDI is key for poor countries like Kenya to integrate in global value chains and networks. While Covid19 may be used as an excuse, the longer trend shows slump in FDI many years prior to. A legacy tug of this nature must worry African leaders more than imposing a successor.

Africans should not allow Presidents to chose their successors

In another African country in the West, an outgoing President is busy searching for a successor instead of worrying about the sick economy he’ll soon leave behind. I read that the World Bank said, “In 2022, Nigeria is expected to have one of the highest inflation rates in the world and the seventh highest in Sub-Sahara Africa.” IMF projected 18 and 22% inflation for Nigeria in 2022. Meanwhile, according to Unctadstat data, Nigeria’s GDP growth in 2020 shrank to minus 1.8% and GDP per capita down to minus 4.3%.

In Zambia itself, calls for the so-called selected successors have been heard before. Despite having an obscure history of leadership, one former President found himself in State House largely due to this reasoning. This country and others in Africa are not monarchical. They’re merit-driven. In particular, its most ignominious for economic-failing African Heads of State who have disappointed their people to seek successors. But even if a successful one chose a successor, how would he be sure that he would succeed like him? The warning to them is, “Dare try to foist one, you’ll be embarrassed by another ‘Ruto.’ ‘Rutos’ are not only in Kenya; they’re found in every African country. Your priority should be to account for good economic governance.

Zambia bond restructuring losses to be more than expected, ‘super bond’ possible – Morgan Stanley

4

Reuters reports that Investor losses after the restructuring of Zambia’s three defaulted Eurobonds are likely to be greater than expected, Morgan Stanley said on Tuesday, adding that a new combined ‘super bond’ maturing in 2029 was a possibility.

A “realistic scenario” would be for the $3 billion of bonds to undergo a 35% principal haircut, a 30% cut to interest payments and 50% of accrued payments being written off.

That would mean a recovery value of $56.50, an exit yield of 12% and a cut in the debt’s net present value – the value of future payments – of 51%, bank analysts said in a note.

Zambia became the first African sovereign default in the pandemic era in 2020, with debt that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said reached 133% of GDP at the end of last year.

The IMF said last week that Zambia will need $8.4 billion of debt relief from 2022 until 2025, in a report known as a Debt Sustainability Analysis (DSA) that forms the basis of negotiations to restructure the country’s more than $17 billion in external debt.

“The two key unknown questions that will form part of restructuring talks are: 1) whether an upfront principal haircut is required,” the Morgan Stanley note said.

“And 2) How many payments can be made immediately after the programme ends… from 2026 onwards.”

The IMF’s figures suggest external debt “relief” needs to be 35-45%, Morgan Stanley said.
World Bank president David Malpass said in a statement last week, “a deep debt reduction of 45% in net present value (NPV) terms… is essential”.

Bondholders have previously expressed dissatisfaction with being left out of early restructuring negotiations, including over assumptions in the DSA.

A ‘super bond’, where old bonds are combined into one new one, is also possible, Morgan Stanley said, setting out a $52 recovery value from a hypothetical seven-year maturity, with a 20% principal haircut, a 50% reduction in missed payments and a 5% coupon from 2026.

Currently, Zambia’s 2022, 2024 and 2027 bonds are trading at 56.04, 58 and 57.5 cents in the dollar respectively, according to MarketAxess data.

No sacred cow in the fight against corruption – Mwenye

11

THE Anti-Corruption Commission ( ACC ) says there will be no sacred cow in the fight against corruption but fulfill its mandate of fighting the vice.

ACC Chairperson Musa Mwenye says that the fight against corruption does is not only to pursue former leaders but to fight the cancer.

He says President Hakainde Hichilema has several times reminded Zambians entrusted with the responsibility to be accountable and safe the meagre resources this country has.

The ACC Chairperson was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Central Province Permanent Secretary Milner Mwanakampwe.

Mr. Mwenye called on the provincial administration to ensure that government procedures are safeguarded.

And Mr. Mwanakampwe says the fight against corruption is not a fever to anyone but ensure that the poorest from the shanty compound also benefit from the national resources.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia Debacle: Was All this Necessary?

9

By Fred M’membe President of the Socialist Party

The decision that has come out of the High Court of Zambia today ordering the Electoral Commission of Zambia to postpone parliamentary by-elections in Kwacha and Kabushi and hold fresh nominations allowing Mr Joseph Malanji and Mr Bowman Lusambo to contest was expected. It is not a surprise, the opposite would have been a surprise, a shocker. And the Electoral Commission of Zambia and its political masters knew very, very well that they had no reason, legal or otherwise, to stop Mr Malanji and Mr Lusambo from being candidates in these parliamentary by-elections. But they still went ahead to issue a precedent press statement that no nominations will be accepted from Mr Malanji and Mr Lusambo. And indeed on the nomination day, they refused to accept their nomination papers. There’s no doubt that the Electoral Commission of Zambia was working on instructions from its political masters.

Mr Malanji and Mr Lusambo took the matter to the Constitutional Court and got a favourable decision confirming their right to contest these by-elections. But still the Electoral Commission of Zambia, together with their political masters, decided to proceed with the by-elections minus Mr Malanji and Mr Lusambo in total disregard of the Constitutional Court decision. Ballot papers, which now have to be thrown away, were printed at a very high cost to the taxpayer. And Mr Hakainde Hichilema, at a very high expense to the taxpayer, went on an expensive five-day door-to-door campaign in Kwacha and Kabushi.

In more accountable societies many would lose their jobs at the Electoral Commission of Zambia for the damage they have done to the institution’s public standing, and credibility and the money they have wasted. Oh what a web they have weaved themselves into by trying to be lawless, crooked, dishonest, vindictive!
And can Mr Malanji and Mr Lusambo reasonably expect this Electoral Commission of Zambia to ran free and fair by-elections in which they are candidates? Will they level the play field and ensure that the by-elections are postponed for a reasonable time to allow Mr Malanji and Mr Lusambo to catch up because they deliberately disadvantaged them?
Again, we ask: why all this intransigence, and desperation?

We all know that one of the hardest things to do in life is to do the right thing. What we think are the right things. Not what our friends, family and bosses think are the right things.

What is the right thing? That’s up to us to decide. Often we have a little voice in our heads that tells what the right things are. Or a gut feeling. God expects each one of us to play our part in helping to make this country a better place than we found it. We owe it to ourselves and to future generations to ensure that everything we do is done right and for the benefit of citizens and all who live here.

Doing right is not a sign of weakness, it is however a sign of maturity, integrity and responsibility. It’s only mature, responsible and people with integrity that are always doing what is right.

Doing the right things in every situation has many benefits. Doing the right things gives us peace of mind. When we are on the right side of the law we are at peace with ourselves. We go to sleep knowing that all is well with us. Knowing that we do not expect the unexpected.
There is nothing more uncomfortable than going to bed with an unsettled mind. Everything we do has a way of catching up with us. What goes around comes around. In this life we tend to get what we give. By doing the right things we tend to get the same things back. Do the right thing, put in the extra effort.

When we don’t do the right things we are not only sending out signals out into our world. We are also sending signals to ourselves. When we don’t do the right things we don’t feel good about ourselves. We may experience emptiness or get stuck in negative thought loops. Its like we are letting ourselves down. We are telling ourselves that we can’t handle doing the right things. To not do the right things is a bit like punching ourselves in the stomachs.

A powerful side effect of not doing the right thing is that we give ourselves a lack of deservedness. This can really screw up you and your success. If you don’t do the right thing in your life then you won’t feel like you deserve the success that you may be on your way towards or experiencing right now. So you start to self-sabotage, perhaps deliberately or through unconscious thoughts.

Doing the right thing increases your integrity – and integrity matters. You become more trustworthy and respected. And don’t forget: the truth will come out.
