Government has disbursed over K2.4 million to social cash transfer beneficiaries under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services in Mafinga district in Muchinga province.
A total of over K1.2 million was an allocation for January and February this year while another K1, 225,645 was for March and April.
Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Davison Mulenga launched the disbursement exercise at Intotela school pay point yesterday and said government was committed to improving the living standards of ordinary Zambian citizens.
During the launch of the exercise yesterday, 102 beneficiaries were present and received their money. These included the aged, female headed, disabled and child headed households.
At the same event, Captain Mulenga announced the increase of social cash transfer beneficiaries in Mafinga district to 10,991 from the current 5,107 in the entire district.
“Government is committed to improve the living standards of ordinary Zambian citizens and this why this year government is increasing the number of beneficiaries under the social cash transfer programme so as to ensure that many vulnerable people are included on the programme,” he said.
Capt. Mulenga said the social cash transfer programme impacts not only the direct beneficiaries but also the communities they live in.
He said when beneficiaries spend the money locally, the non-benefiting households that supply goods and services also partake of the increased cash circulating in the community.
And the beneficiaries of the social cash transfer in Mafinga commended the government for the good gesture.
The beneficiaries told ZANIS that the money they received from the government through social cash transfer has helped in improving their livelihoods.
Fryness Nachinga said her livelihood has improved from the time she was put on social cash transfer programme.
“This programme has transformed my life,” she said.
Another beneficiary, Maggie Namposya said she was suffering a lot before she was put on social cash transfer.
Ms. Namposya said she has now managed to build a house from social cash transfer funds after investing it farming.
“I used to suffer a lot as an elderly woman but from the time I was put on social cash transfer, my life has changed and I have even built a house after investing the money into farming,” she said.
The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has empowered 27 Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivors with K54, 000 in Kalumbila district in North-western province.
The ILO made this gesture at a handover ceremony of the GBV start-up kits in Kalumbila yesterday.
Kalumbila District Commissioner, Robinson Kalota, who graced the ceremony, said government is working with the United Nations (UN) agencies such as the ILO to reduce poverty amongst victims of GBV.
“In the quest to reduce poverty amidst the GBV victims, the Zambian government in conjunction with UN joint programmes on GBV has provided the start-up funds under the Get Ahead for Women in Enterprise…I am glad to mention that the ILO, which is a UN agency, supplemented the much needed logistical support,” Mr. Kalota said.
He explained that the programme is being implemented by the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services through the department of community development in the district.
“So far, 27 GBV survivors were identified and trained in various entrepreneurships by staff from the department of community development,” he said.
He stated that each beneficiary is to receive K2, 000 as start-up capital.
“The 27 women are receiving a start-up capital worth K2, 000 each to help them start up various entrepreneurship businesses such as buying and selling beans, maize and vegetables as well as keeping chickens and many more,” he said.
Mr. Kalota observed that victims of gender based violence are usually socially and economically affected adding that this hampers economic development at household and national levels.
He appreciated the ILO for the support rendered towards supporting survivors of GBV.
“Allow me to thank the ILO for the support of K54, 000 rendered to the gender based violence survivors in Kalumbila district as well as the active role played by Ministry of Community Development and Social Services in this programme,” he said.
Mr. Kalota pointed out that the empowerment is an eye opener to others who may still be facing GBV.
“This is an eye opener to others who are still facing GBV for we all know that many cases have remained unreported especially among the men folk, who still take it that it is a shame to report GBV cases when they are beaten and ill-treated in their homes,” Mr. Kalota said.
He encouraged the community in the area to be vigilant and report all cases of GBV to the nearest relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, Kalumbila District Community Development Officer, Ritah Makupa urged the beneficiaries to put the money to good use.
“We urge you our able women to go and plough back this money, invest it very well,” Ms. Makupa said.
And speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Theresa Kabinji thanked government and ILO for the empowerment.
“Thank you to government and ILO for this money and training in entrepreneurship…most importantly the start-up capital,” she said.
Ms. Kabinji said the start-up capital will help the women to contribute to economic development at district and national level.
She has however appealed to government and ILO to provide more training.
“We appeal that we are given more training, like the savings training…this will help to aid our businesses and also to continue with our business,” she said.
Ms. Kabinji also appealed that more vulnerable women in the district be given the same opportunity of empowerment.
President Edgar Lungu has thanked Vice President Inonge Wina for the services she rendered to the country since he appointed her to the position in 2015.
This morning, Mrs. Wina announced that she should not be considered for President Lungu’s running mate for the August 2021 general election.
President Lungu expressed gratitude to Mrs. Wina for her wisdom and guidance since she was appointed six years ago.
“I would like to thank Her Honour the Vice-President, Mrs. Inonge Mutukwa Wina, for her wisdom and guidance since I appointed her as Vice-President of our Republic in 2015,” said President Lungu.
The President said Mrs. Wina’s counsel to the Patriotic Front (PF) as a party and to the government in her capacity as Vice-President, has been immense.
“She has been a bedrock to rely on, and as she leaves office in August after the elections, what remains for me is to thank her for her services to this country since we started our journey together,” he said in a statement released to the media last evening by his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations, Isaac Chipampe.
President Lungu further stated that Mrs. Wina is a pride of all womenfolk and girls in Zambia because of being the first female Vice-President of the country.
“We shall continue seeking her advice and counsel even after she has left office. Thank you so much Madam Vice-President,” President Lungu concluded his brief message of appreciation to Mrs. Wina.
Earlier yesterday, Mrs. Wina announced at the press briefing in Lusaka that she should not be considered for the position of running mate to President Lungu for this year’s general elections.
“I wish to inform the nation that I have communicated to the President of the Republic of Zambia, Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu on the decision that I have taken not to be considered as a running mate in the August 2021 general elections,” Mrs. Wina stated.
Mrs. Wina, who is 80 years old now, commended President Lungu for the historical move of appointing her as the first female vice president for Zambia.
The Vice President noted that the decision was a clear indication of how President Lungu recognises women as partners in leadership at the highest level of government.
“I have reached a stage in my political journey where I need to take a different role that will see a new generation of leaders take charge of the affairs of the country especially now that stability has been restored in our party by His Excellency the President,” she said.

I know you are anxiously waiting for my take on president of the Patriotic Front Edgar Lungu. My last article on UPND Hakainde Hichilema subjected me to scurrilous, derogatory, scandalous and personal attacks by the “Panga Boys.” They were disappointed I treated Hichilema with soft gloves. I did so because I wanted to clear the landmines in his path so Lungu can meet his match. I will put Hichilema under the microscope sometime soon. As for now, expect the incumbent Edgar Lungu to be the next feature.
Today, I am forced to deal with the personal venom directed at me by planted PF bloggers. I do so because a Zambian voyeuristic readership uncritically accepts even the most nonsensical speculations, some if left unattended can cause irreparable damage to one’s reputation. Please take a moment to read this article word-for-word. I will address my personal life and some of the falsehoods and innuendos cunningly passed around by PF bloggers.
Let me repeat Mao Zedong’s saying: “Politics is war without bloodshed and war is politics with bloodshed.” When I chose to write political articles for my country, I knew it was not for the squeamish, or the fainthearted—not in a country in which what is food for the lion is death for the deer. I knew to fight the Panga Boys, I will have to pull out my sword and fight fire with fire. So, let the battle begin.
Blogger Kaizar Zulu’s Health Report
Digital health record BKZ.200.199 shows that blogger Kaizar Zulu was diagnosed with substance abuse at the age of 26 and was on several occasions chained to the hospital bed to contain his biting syndrome. Under severe psychotic attack, blogger Zulu would soil his pants, foam from the mouth and bite any one in his way. In addition to hallucinations, and delusions, substance abuse can cause violent behavior and hypoglycemia. Once a year since 2001, Zulu has to report to the hospital to control serious complications that develop in him time and again.
According to the report, when blogger Kaizar Zulu is in attack mood he is psychotically affected to the extent the destruction he causes to property, the altercations and physical fights he engages in, and the insults he utters are executed with lack of awareness thereupon. It was actually Doctor J.H. Chansongo M.D. who recommended that blogger Zulu, who was becoming more erratic in 2019, be removed from his last duties for fear if allowed near the instruments of power, he might desecrate them. [End of Report]
Just now blogger Kaizar Zulu does not know what has hit him. I have triggered his psychotic attack. I can hear him screaming: “It’s a lie, I’ll shoot that—!” Well, it’s too late. His workmates believe the report because it fits his character. The public is not surprised either. Many, including the PF cadres he works with often ask “is this guy normal?” And in a country in which hearsay and rumor mongering are embedded in the fabric of everyday existence, this devastating report is a stab right at the center of his heart.
I won’t say the story is true or false, because when this narcissistic gangster mercilessly wounds his prey he lets blood flow to the last drop. I have applied the same stratagem he and his PF bloggers employ on me and other writers who dare cross Lungu’s path. They deliberately cook up intemperate and unjust falsehoods to injure my integrity and impugn my honor.
In other words, I have given this seriously ill “patient” who spews hate, a dose of his own medicine. Those who care to read fabricated venomous comments made by him in social media will agree he has a sordid spirit of smear. I have taken time to study blogger Kaizar Zulu and have compiled and archived most of his comments on social media for a rainy day. As for the authenticity of his health report, you be the judge.
The “Stop Field Ruwe” Campaign
Blogger Kaizar Zulu works tandem with PF cadres like Sunday Chanda, and others who camouflage in pseudonyms to evade the truth and dishonorably magnify falsehoods to cast doubt on their prey. A snitch who sits on the “cyber counter-intelligence” meetings in Zulu’s office, informs me a “Stop Field Ruwe” smear campaign was hatched at the beginning of “Who’s Who” series to cast doubt upon my articles and besmirch my character ahead of the feature on presidential candidate Edgar Lungu. The sole purpose of the scheme is to:
(i) keep an eagle’s eye on the release of Ruwe’s articles in all online media outlets and kill the story before it grows legs; (ii) alert other bloggers upon release of the article so we can flood the comment forum and drive the narrative in our favor; (iii) portray Ruwe as an ally of HH and a member of UPND; (iv) cast doubt on his academic qualifications; (v) go after his marriage to a doctor.
The week preceding the Hakainde Hichilema feature, bloggers Kaizar Zulu, Sunday Chanda, Anthony Mwanza and others at the heart of the smear campaign laid in wait with their pangas poised to pounce. The moment the article was posted they attacked me using the most vulgar and character assassination imaginable.
Taking advantage of my technological savviness, I accessed the vortex sight and saw Kaizar Zulu uses numerous pseudonyms like “Cozcowjr.” Also, Sunday Chanda and others use various aliases, including “the observer,” and “Independent Observer.” I dug into the backgrounds of these two young men. They are a good example of the hypocrites Jesus was referring to when he said: “First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye!” Sadly, the log in blogger Kaizar Zulu’s eye can’t be taken out. It is lodged in half of his brain.
At 49 years old blogger Kaizar Zulu is as described in the health report. He is violent to the level of madness. Some of the violence has hit headlines in the media. Put together the number of blows and the buckets of blood he has spilt, the scoundrel should be serving life at Mukobeko.
It is Zulu’s hooliganism and sub-standard intellect that have made me launch an investigation into why Edgar Lungu, president of the Republic of Zambia chose him as his Political Advisor, against the advice of senior intelligence officers. My findings have started pointing to the Lungu regime’s violent record, one of the worst in the history of Zambian politics. It is an article for another day. Let me unveil my personal life.
My Personal Life
For you all who follow my articles you’ve seen how blogger Kaizar Zulu and PF cadres try to portray me as a dependent of my wife. Yes, my wife is medical doctor, a good one for that matter. My father said to me, for every step, take two, you will reach for the stars faster. If you hang around with thugs you are likely to become one. If you frequent the bar you are likely to marry a waitress or a drunk. Surround yourself with intelligent people. The more intelligent people you mingle with the more confident you become.
If you ask my childhood friends, they will tell you I have always set my bar very high. Michelangelo put it succinctly: “The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” I quit Zambia Broadcasting Services because I was too ambitious.
Before I married, I created a highly successful entertainment and advertising agency. Former employees include Swithin Haangala, Sam Ngoma, Titus Chembo, Pauline Banda, and Hazel Zulu. I coupled my business with Rute Car Hire that saw its fleet increase by the year. Between 1984 and 1996, I provided a living for a good number Zambians. They will all tell you I never indulged in criminal activities.
When I met my wife, she was just a human being trying to heal the world. The sole meaning of marriage is love. That’s what drew us to each other. Last March we celebrated 34 years of a happy marriage. She’s been with me this long because she cherishes our marriage. So, be assured wherever I lay my hat that’s my comfortable home. I am as creative and self reliant as they come.
My Education
Nelson Mandela said; “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” In 2012, I wrote “Zambian Intellectuals are Lazy.” The article went viral under the title: “Intellectual Scum.” I’ve since received letters and messages from all four corners of the world on the impact my article has had on them. The article was been downloaded over a million times.
That’s what my well-earned education has turned out to be. For those who put my education in doubt my profile on LinkedIn is well detailed. Wikipedia might also help. I am a Doctor of Education from the prestigious Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S. I hold a BA in Mass Communication and Journalism from Suffolk University, and CSU, Fresno, and a Masters in World History from Fresno Pacific University, California. On top of that I have walked the corridors of Harvard University.
In all my writings, I strive to be factual. In my last article on Hakainde, I referred to President Kaunda as a Bemba by birth. I made sure it was a documented fact. Historians Tomasz Kamusela and Finex Ndhlovu (2017), and others state that President Kaunda identified himself as a Bemba by birth. KK is actually on record to have said so.
Regarding Nkumbula, while it is agreed that he was Ila his tribe was part of Bantu Botatwe, a cluster of languages of the Tonga group and was therefore associated with the Tonga, especially in politics. Just like Bisa, Tabwa, and Lala people are associated with the Bemba tribe. In fact, Nkumbula throughout his teaching and political careers was commonly referred to as the Tonga teacher. Please read William V. Bresford’s “The Tribes of Northern Rhodesia.”
I stop here.
Next: Edgar Chagwa Lungu President of the Republic of Zambia.
Local golf star Madalitso Muthiya has won the Prudential Classic golf tournament by three shots after a tantalizing display on the final day.
Muthiya broke away in the last round to take a comfortable win after holding a one-shot lead on the first two days.
He scored a level-par 70 to finish with a three-round total of two-under-par 208 on a day many golfers complained about their scoring.
“I am really happy with this win and glad I achieved my goal for the day,” Muthiya told journalists.
This was the second Professional Golfers Association of Zambia (PGAZ) organised championship Muthiya was winning this year.
Youngster Sydney Wemba emerged second after scoring two-under-par 68 to finish with a one-over-par 211.
Wemba is the only local player to have beaten Muthiya in the last one year of the Professional Golfers Association of Zambia (PGAZ) tournaments which was at Nkana.
Ndola’s Gabriel Chibale took third place after finishing the tournament on four-par 214 as Dezzie Ng’andu finished in fourth, one shot off Chibale.
Fifth place was taken by Morton Muwowo who despite the one over on the last day had an overall of eight-over-par 218.
Nkana’s survival hopes took a direct hit on Sunday after losing 2-1 at home in Kitwe to Lusaka Dynamos.
The defeat ended Nkana’s promising three-match unbeaten run that included big victories over league leaders Zesco United and archrivals Power Dynamos whom they beat 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.
It all started promisingly on Sunday against Dynamos especially in the first half in which Nkana goalkeeper Kelvin Malunga was the hero.
Malunga made three huge close-range saves denying Emmanuel Chabula twice and Collins Sikombe in the 40th minute to see the sides go into the break scoreless.
However, things took a turn after the hour mark when industrious midfielder Willy Stephanous put Dynamos ahead in the 62nd minute with a freekick that first struck the post before going in to elude Malunga.
Nkana striker Ronald Kampamba, who had replaced Patrick Gondwe in the 55th minute, then equalized from close-range in the 64th minute.
The score line remained that way until the 80th minute when an unmarked Stephanus punished Nkana for some poor defending to see Dynamos complete a league double over the out-going league champions whom they beat 2-0 in Lusaka on January 23.
Nkana stay put on 28 points and have seven games left to play while Dynamos are fifth on 43 points.
The Kitwe giants are two points behind 17th placed Lumwana Radiants who lost 1-0 away to Prison Leopards.
Napsa are 16th and occupy the top part of the relegation zone on 36 points and won today following a hard-fought- for 4-3 away win over Indeni.
Meanwhile, second placed Zanaco could only cut Zesco United’s lead from six to five points following a 1-1 away draw with mid-table Green Buffaloes.
Nicholas Mulilo put Buffaloes ahead in the 22nd minute but Moses Phiri leveled for Zanaco in the 50th minute.
After a rigorous primary election process, we have settled for the 156 members of parliament aspirants and hundreds of other candidates in our local government structures. I can confirm to you that this is the most difficult process of our party, yet one that brings joy to those who have made it and a lot of pain and disappointment for those that have not.
My humble and earnest appeal to both categories is magnanimity, respect, understanding, love and unity towards each other. We will be uncaring to our culture of solidarity that has held us together in very difficult times in the past, if we do not give due consideration to each other’s aspirations and anxieties, that have arisen from the above process.
The grassroots did their job for which we profoundly thank them. The NMC also weighed in before the NEC settled on the final list. I ask that this process be respected, no matter the feelings of victory or disappointment we may feel.
Let us now focus on the bigger picture fellow members, and not allow our detractors to divide us, even as they pillage and plunder our nation. We are facing a vicious dictatorship and a collapsed economy, brought about by a most reckless and corrupt regime in the history of our country. We therefore have a patriotic and democratic duty to vote them out and unless we unite, our nation will be unrecognisable in the next five years, if the PF are allowed to continue. We must not allow that and if we do because of divisions, posterity may judge us harshly.
There is a lot of work to be done once we are in power and will need everyone who has demonstrable loyalty to help us deliver the development agenda we have for Zambia.
We therefore have work for everyone, but before we assign you, we will need to get to State House.
I can give numerous examples of men and women who didn’t jump ship in previous rounds of adoptions, who have been adopted this time around. I therefore call on you to be patient and rally behind those that have been adopted and do not split the vote, as this would disadvantage our mission and goals.
I wish all the best to aspirants at MP, Mayor/Council Chairman and Councillor level.
A member of the Shangombo district social protection committee has said differently-abled children have the right to education, just like other children.
Meamui Lusambo said the community should therefore refrain from hiding their differently-abled children in their homes but instead present them to relevant authorities.
Ms. Lusambo was speaking during a social protection committee awareness meeting in Mukenge area in Shangombo district in Western province.
“As you can see I am differently-abled but I am grateful to my parents for where I am today because they never differentiated between me and my siblings when it came to education or house chores, you can also do the same for your child,” she said.
She has since urged parents and guardians to be the pillar of strength to their children through encouraging and motivating them.
And Shangombo District Community Development Officer, Oster Munsanje, said at the same meeting that the girl child also deserves a second chance to education in an event that she falls pregnant along the way.
Ms. Munsanje testified that she was one of the first people to benefit from governments re-entry policy when it was first introduced in 1997.
She said teenage pregnancy should not be the end of the road to acquiring quality education noting that girls can still go back to school just like she did.
The re-entry policy requires schools to grant girls maternity leave and re-admit them after giving birth to facilitate their education.
She encouraged parents not to marry off their children at a tender age but to take keen interest in their education.
Ms. Munsanje said girls who might have discontinued their education journey due early pregnancy must return to school under the government’s programme called ‘keeping girls in school’ (KGS).
The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has reiterated that it will not hesitate to invoke Section 29 of its amendment Act No. 26 of 2010 if local television broadcasting stations operate in a manner that disregards the law.
Section 29 of the IBA Amendment Act No. 26 of 2010 gives the board the power to suspend, revoke or cancel any broadcasting licence issued under the Act.
IBA Director General Josephine Mapoma said in a statement to ZANIS this evening that the authority was appalled by the conduct of Muvi Television (TV) when it hosted Chilufya Tayali, the president of the opposition Economic and Equity party on its assignment programme aired yesterday, May 15, 2021.
Ms. Mapoma said the IBA is concerned that Muvi TV allegedly does not seem to observe the highest professional standards as provided for in Section 24 (1) (e) of the IBA (Amendment) Act No. 26 of 2010.
Section 24 (1) (e) of the IBA (Amendment) Act No. 26 of 2010, states that the programming provided by commercial stations must meet the highest standards of journalistic professionalism.
She said three weeks ago, IBA cautioned Muvi TV for alleged unprofessional conduct it exhibited when the television station featured the president of the opposition Poor People’s Party, Alex Muliokela.
“The station was directed to exercise good judgment and take ethical considerations seriously, regardless of whether a programme is paid for or not,” she said.
Ms. Mapoma has since reminded Muvi TV and other broadcasting stations to exercise professionalism in order to avoid contravening the law and face consequences.
“Meanwhile, the public may wish to know that Muvi TV has since been summoned to appear before the authority to attend to specific concerns,” she said.
Zambia and the African Union have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the deployment of police officers to the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Emmanuel Mwamba signed the MoU on behalf of Zambia.
Mr. Mwamba said the signing of the memorandum of understanding would increase the number of police officers Zambia was allocated to send for the AMISOM from the current 38 to 160.
He said at the signing ceremony that Zambia’s police officers and soldiers who are deployed to various United Nations and African Union missions were known to be distinguished and very disciplined in the field.
Mr. Mwamba further said although Zambia had been deploying individual police officers to African Union missions since 2012, this was done without a memorandum of understanding.
He reiterated that it was important for member states to institutionalise the deployment of officers to the African Union mission by signing an MoU.
And signing on behalf of the African Union Commission, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bankole Adeoye, said Zambia was a model of democracy in Africa.
Ambassador Adeoye said Zambia had also helped many African countries through peace-keeping and peace building efforts across the continent.
This is contained in a statement issued to ZANIS by First Secretary for Press and Tourism at the Zambian Mission in Addis Ababa, Inutu Mwanza.
The United Church of Zambia (UCZ) has cautioned Zambians against falling prey to politics of violence and division ahead of the August 12, 2021 general elections
Speaking to ZANIS in Kasama, UCZ General Secretary Chipasha Musaba said electorates have a responsibility to reject all forms of political activity that breach the country’s peace.
Rev. Musaba, who was flanked by UCZ Synod Bishop Sydney Sichilima and other regional bishops, noted that politicians should be counseled against perpetrating violence as they try to persuade voters to elect them on the August polls.
“We must recognize that these politicians are actually our sons and daughters, they should not divide us. We should actually take the privilege to counsel them,” Rev. Musaba said
He further implored politicians to tame their respective supporters and ensure that they engage in issue based campaigns.
“As campaigns begin, we expect politicians to tame their respective supporters and cadres, let them inform people what they want to do for them. Politics should not divide the people of God,” he said.
Rev. Musaba noted that political campaigns should be used to inform the public of specific development ideas unlike propagating anarchy.
Vice-PresidentMrs Inonge Mutukwa Wina has announced her decision not to be considered as a running mate to President Edgar Lungu for the August General Election.
Mrs Wina disclosed that age was catching up with her and she felt satisfied with her contribution to the development of Zambia hence the need to pass on the button.
She said she was grateful to President Lungu for having given her the opportunity to serve the Zambian people as first female vice president adding that she had already informed the Head of State about her decision.
“It’s now time to pass on the button. I have reached a stage in my political journey where I need to take a different role that will see a new generation of leaders take charge of the affairs of the country especially now that stability has been restored by President Edgar Lungu,” Mrs Wina said.
“I recently turned 80 years and as most of you can agree I cannot summon the same energy as I had when I was a young wife to a freedom fighter taking a position in the trenches.”
She said her involvement in the affairs of Zambia dated back to the pre-independence stage and she was privileged to have served the nation in modern times with the support of the Zambian people.
She said she executed her functions including being Leader of Government Business in Parliament with the support from Cabinet and Members of Parliament with ease which was premised on the principles of collective responsibility.
She said the opportunity to serve as the first female vice president was a historical milestone in the recognition of women as partners in leadership at the highest level of government.
“We enacted laws in the National Assembly that were designed to ensuring that the standard of life of our people is uplifted. I must confess that the Vice-President’s Question Time was indeed at times challenging but it provided a suitable opportunity for us as government to be scrutinised by the people through their elected representatives,” she said.
Mrs Wina said in the quest to uplift the lives of people in times of climate induced calamities like droughts and floods including the COVID-19 Pamdemic, she was pleased to note that her team in the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) was on hand to ensure that they minimised the carnage and saved lives.
She said the efforts of the DMMU would not be successful in isolation as that was a concerted effort by the various supporting partners including International Corporating Partners, the Private Sector and many other bodies and individuals who assisted in actualising the goals of the government.
And Mrs Wina has stated that she would continue to support President Lungu to ensure that all government programs were effectively implemented in the election period.
Her Honour the Vice-President has since expressed gratitude to the Zambian people for the privilege and honour afforded to her to serve as Republican Vice-President.
“May God continue to bless the President of the Republica of Zambia as he continues to steer this great country to prosperity,” Mrs Wina said.

Red Arrows striker James Chamanga says they are staying very focused in their remaining four league games to keep alive their continental qualification hopes.
Arrows roared to life with three second half goals without reply against visiting Forest Rangers at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday to crash last season’s league runners- up 3-0.
The victory also saw Arrows leap from fifth to third place on the table to inch them closer to their first continental qualification since 2012.
Chamanga sparked Arrows to life with the opening goal in the 52nd minute to score his second in as many wins for the 2004 league champions and take his tally to ten goals so far this term.
“We are not there yet, we cannot get comfortable, we cannot relax and it is time to get back to the drawing board for the next game against Nkana,” Chamanga said.
Arrows will host the relegation-battling and out-going FAZ Super League title holders Nkana in a Week 32 game on May 25 after the latter face Prison Leopards on May 22 at home in Kitwe.
“For me, I will start talking about my (continental) dreams after we finish the season,” Chamanga said.
“I cannot say we are there yet, we still have four games to go.
“We need to focus on these four games but I think we are on the right track.”
Third placed Arrows have 46 points, three less than number two side Zanaco and have two points more than fourth placed Kabwe Warriors.
Forest drop to from number three to fifth position after the away defeat and have 43 points with three games left for them to play.
The 2021 General elections in Zambia are only months away, Thursday, August 12, 2021 to be exact. Another episode, a “telemundo” series, action packed, promising some explosive moments.
Some politicians like “wolves in sheep’s clothing,” are coming out of the woodwork. They are here from months of hibernating, only to practice and display what they do best, offer empty promises.
After years and months of total absence and community neglect, they now bring the same old worthless stories by shading “crocodile tears” as if they have the best interest of ordinary Zambians at heart.
Their stories are not new. Very predictable. There is nothing new for us except rehearsed speeches and fake promissory notes. The drama begins, decorated by out-of-tune singing and rashly choreographed dancing mainly praised by cadres.
Programs are nothing but repeats. The repeats are in themselves true lies and yet have the ability to hypnotize the electorate like spells from Nyasa. Politicians and voters alike resemble one who has a spell cast on them.
Shall voters fall for the very things they promised not to? Shall they elect the same people telling same old lies?God forbid, we are not crazy. We shall not listen to same lies, told by same liars and expect to get different positive results.
The 2021 elections should be taken with all seriousness they deserve. A defining moment. A time to draw a line in the sand and declare “enough is enough”.
Out of those contesting, we do indeed know the true leaders. We cannot make the same mistakes over and over again. We have fully paid for out mistakes made in past elections. Now it’s time for fake politicians to pay.
Through ignorance and gullibility, we made mistakes in the past. This time, we need to vote with our brain and heart. The poor, the marginalized, the concerned voters must all unite and fight on the same side.
Fight the common enemy, the fake politicians. Our vote should not be used to settle other people’s political scores or disputes but to improve our livelihood. .The center of attention in this election is to get rid of the imposters, politicians causing the suffering of Zambians.
The same old same old mentality of politicians making a paycheque during election time is over. This includes civic leaders taking advantage of the season to cash in through useless rants and”fallacious projects.
Stop political wolves and hyenas promising and pledging to protect the sheep and goats. Block political lions and other predators offering service to care for impala, lechwe, and other prey. End vultures of their pledge to cover our backs.
Past elections left us feeling so hopeless and helpless. Like infects babysat by known pedophilias. This is wrong, surely don’t we have a few good people? The ones we term “remnants”. Those who believe the best can come out of Zambia.
We need people who are in it to fix it. They are not plunderers, not looters but fixers and hope restorers. Where are these good people? Let’s begin to mobilize and thwart the intentions of economic hooligans.
A pack of wolves cannot shepherd a flock of sheep without the wolves getting fat and the sheep getting fewer. Pick pocketers and robbers cannot run a country with full coffers. They get rich and the country gets poor.
Rules set by cheats will never be fair. Laws made by the guilty will never be just. Elections run by liars will never be honest and the results are never celebrated.”Only those with Zambia at heart can make the best of what it is. Freedom is not cheap. It is not free.
We are inspired by the spirit of history to move our nation forward. Zambia is not a project of any one person. We are all called to be Zambians not some special individuals. Many have walked before us. Many have sacrificed for our nation. The blood of our heroes paid and paved the way.
How long shall we behave like blind people? We allow leaders elected to serve us only but steal from us. Here is a call to moral choice to change. We need to commit to build this house first before we can that of investors.
We have to commit to dry the tears of Zambians first, then create joy in the hearts of investors. We are tired of change for the sake of change. We are tired of change that only brings in comedy and drama, heartache and pain.
Zambians have vast experience in disappointments. Top on that agenda of disappointers are leaders we elect. A wasted vote is one cast for leaders who eventually turn mediocre and absentee representatives.
