Kabwe Warriors striker Jimmy Ndhlovu says he decided not to celebrate much after scoring against Power Dynamos at the weekend out of respect for his old club.
Ndhlovu scored a spectacular goal from outside the box when Warriors stunned Power 1-0 at home in Kitwe on Saturday.
The striker only left Power last year after the non renewal of his contract and joined Kitwe United before switching to Warriors in the same year.
“I think it was a tough game. We were coming back from a loss at home so we told ourselves that we shouldn’t let this one go. Luckily, I scored in the first half and told our boys that guys let’s work hard,’ Ndhlovu said.
“It’s sweet to score against Power but you know this is my home ground I always feel at home when I am here. I am privileged that I scored and I enjoyed my game today. This is like my home so I have to give respect to the fans and everyone who came to support this team,” he said.
The ex-Nkana and Zesco United player turned and controlled the ball perfectly before blasting a long range shot past Power keeper Joshua Titima.
“I usually do that during training so it comes as natural for me; I always turn and shoot in training. So it came out natural I wasn’t even surprised that I scored, ”Nhdolvu said.
As the fire fighters continue demanding their salaries, the Fire Services Union of Zambia is disappointed that the Church has failed to voice out on the non payment of salaries to council workers for months now.
Union General Secretary Clement Mulenga says it is disappointing that the Church Mother Bodies have failed to criticize government over their failure to pay salaries.
Mr Mulenga said the Church must not always support the government even in the wrongs that the state is doing.
He said the church must be the champion of Justice and not to turn a blind eye to the sufferings of the Council workers in the country.
Mr Mulenga said it is disappointing that the only time the Church is heard in the country is when someone attacks the government.
He said the Church is the office of God and must be impartial and should never love wearth at the expense of the expense of agonizing souls.
Mr Mulenga said Government has continued to act wrongly including wrong dismissals to workers yet the church is quiet.
He said the Council Workers however still remain grateful to God that he will forget them even if people pretending to be God’s servants are quiet on issues affecting them.
“One wonders even the significance of the October 18 prayers when Leaders dont care about the welfare of the workers. I pray that the church won’t fear the ruling party or government but will fear God alone and uphold justice.
DA President Harry Kalaba shows the party symbol during the press briefing in Lusaka
UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema has condemned the teargassing of Democracy Party President Harry Kalaba in Samfya over the weekend by the police.
Mr Hichilema has described the act as undemocratic and a sign of dictatorship in Zambia under the PF regime.
He has charged that the PF are undeniably cowards who have no plan and Zambians deserve better.
Mr Hichilema wondered why the police have continued using the police to harass and intimidate innocent politicians who want to meet and talk to their members.
“Why continue fighting unarmed people who do not threaten the lives of the people and fail to deal with violent cadres. This must must come to an end”, he said.
Mr Hichilema has since advised Zambians to vote the PF out in 2021 in order to bring sanity especially in the Zambia Police Service who have forgotten to promote law and order for Zambians.

Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo addressed Parishioners at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Masala, Ndola on Sunday.
Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo says it is unfair to blame President Edgar Lungu for the effects of climate change that the country is experiencing.
Mr Lusambo said President Lungu and his administration are working tirelessly to mitigate the effects of climate change.
He said heaping the blame on President Lungu for the low water levels at power generation stations is unfair.
Mr Lusambo was speaking on Sunday when he addressed Parishioners at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Masala in Ndola.
He has since urged the Church to work closely with government and other cooperating partners to work tougher to raise awareness on the effects of climate change.
Mr Lusambo stated that in response to the effects of climate change, government has started emergency power imports and installation of power generation sets in key public facilities such as clinics and hospitals.
“Climate change is purely a natural occurrence because it is not President Edgar Lungu who is walking around with water in his pocket so that we don’t have water in the dams.
It is therefore unfair to blame the effects of climate change on President Lungu and his administration,” Mr Lusambo said.
Meanwhile, Mr Lusambo has handed over four generators valued at K1 million to three clinics in his constituency donated by President Edgar Lungu.
Mr Lusambo has also pledged to provide 210 litres of diesel for the gensets on a monthly basis.
The recipient health facilities are Kabushi, Lubuto and Masala clinics.
Mr. Lusambo said the third generator would be donated to another institution in need.
“I strongly believe that this gesture will help cushion the impact of load shedding on the delivery of health services,” Mr. Lusambo said.

Green Eagles’ continental race has come to an end after they were eliminated in dramatic fashion away in Morocco on Sunday night.
Eagles squandered a one-nil second half lead to lose 2-1 away at HUSA Agadir in the 2019/2020 CAF Confederation Cup pre-group stage.
The Choma side, who were making their second continental campaign after making their debt in the 2018/2019 edition of the same competition, exit 3-2 on aggregate after drawing 1-1 in the first leg on October 27 in Lusaka.
Eagles were relegated to the CAF Confederation Cup in September after Premiero de Agosto of Angola eliminated them from the pre-group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Meanwhile, striker Tapson Kaseba put Eagles ahead in the 56th minute but HUSA hit back in the last seventeen minutes to eject the Zambian club .
Ayoub El Mallouki equalized in the 70th minute before Karim El Berkaoui clinched the winner three minutes before time.
However, Zambia has two continental representatives in the group stage this season with Zesco United in the CAF Champions League while Zanaco will campaign in the league round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Zimbabwe’a Power company Zesa has recorded its lowest power generation capacity at Kariba in years amid fears that the country’s main source of electricity could be decommissioned this month.
According to statistics posted at Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) website on Friday, Kariba Power Station was producing just 81 Megawatts out of the installed capacity of 1 050 MW.
In an interview, Zesa Holdings acting group chief executive officer Engineer Patrick Chivaura said there were fears that the Kariba Power Station could be decommissioned due to low water levels.
Eng Chivaura said Kariba has dropped to maximum of 190 MW from its designed capacity of 1 050 MW.
Eng Chivaura said provided the rains come early then the power station might not be decommissioned.
“We received good rains a few days back and if we continue to have good rains our hope is that the station will not be decommissioned,” he said.
Zimbabwe is importing supplementary power from South African power utility, Eskom and Mozambican power utility Hydro Cahora Bassa (HCB).
Zanaco on Sunday advanced to the 2019/20 CAF Confederation Cup group stage after a roaring 5-1 home win over Cano SA of Equatorial Guinea at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
Mumamba Numba’s side advance to the CAF Confederation Cup group phase 8-2 on aggregate just a week after they beat Cano 3-1 away in Malabo on October 27.
Roger Kola and Ziyo Tembo scored a brace each to take their tally in this seasons competition to three goals each as Zanaco qualified to the league round unbeaten on maximum points from their four preliminary knockout round matches.
Kola was on target in the 1st and 14th minutes to send Zanaco 2-0 into the break.
It could have been 3-0 before halftime but Ziyo saw his 3rd minute header bounce off the beam.
But Ziyo made sure in the 48th minute when he headed-in Tafadzwa Rusike’s cross.
Ernest Mbewe made it five-nil in the 59th minute after some hard work by Moussa Souleymanou.
Ten minutes later, Cano pulled one back through Salif Diarra in what was probably their best move of the match.
But Ziyo Tembo sealed the emphatic win in the 76th minute when he headed-in Lawrence Chungu’s free-kick to end a good day at the office for Zanaco.
Zanaco will know their group fate over the coming week when the draws are made in Cairo by CAF.
Meanwhile, Green Eagles will be hoping to join Zanaco in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage but must first overcome a 1-1 first leg home draw against HUSA Agadir this evening away in Morocco.
Patrick Mutimushi, Director General ZICTA, Yesa Bwalya, Director Communications – Ministry of Transport and Communication, David Kombe, Group CEO – StimuliPr, Ceaser Siwale, CEO – Pangea Securities and Brad Magrath, Chairman – Zambia Digital Summit
Minister of Transport and Communications Mutotwe Kafwaya has called for an enhanced approach towards exploring new innovations aimed at accelerating digital transformation in the country.
Mr. Kafwaya said there is need for the country to strengthen the invention and use of ICTs in the transformational agenda of technological advancements.
He added that the transformation of the ICT sector will help meet the country’s development aspirations to be a middle income country by 2030.
Mr. Kafwaya said that government recognizes the role the ICT plays in the transformation of the country’s economic sector.
The Minister said government remains resolute to improving the communication sector through initiating programs such as the ongoing policy review in the postal sector.
He highlighted the construction of communication towers and the connecting of districts to high fiber networks as some of the initiatives government is spearheading in the communication sector.
“As we continue to advocate for accelerated digital transformation, it is important that we pay close attention to managing the risks associated with increased uptake and usage of ICTs. Cyber related risks and crimes represents a grave, immediate and growing threat to the benefits associated with digital transformation. I am hopeful that this summit will propose some practical steps that we could all consider in managing this threat without hindering the growth of the sector” the Minister noted in a speech read on his behalf by Director Communications YESE BWALYA in the Ministry of Transport and Communications during the inaugural Zambia Digital Summit held at Mulungushi Conference Centre in Lusaka.
And StimuliPr Group CEO David Kombe hightlighted there was a need to embrace digital transformation by putting in place deliberate policies that will help expand the the growth of the digital era.
Mr.Kombe observed that the failure to adopt to new innovations render most organizations to be uncompetitive at both local and global level.
“The magnitude and pace of change in digital innovations means that those that are slow or are poor in the adoptions of current innovations risk adverse effects on their industries, governments and nations. The failure to adopt to new innovations render most organizations to be uncompetitive at both local and global level. At individual level digital innovations have disrupted the way people live, work and play.
Buyer behavior has drastically changed, and companies have to constantly find new ways of not only selling goods and products but new ways of engaging and communicating to customers and general public. As a country we can’t not remain behind and let the world pass us by. We need to move with the times” Kombe said.
Speaking at the same event, Zambia Information and Technology Authority Director General Patrick Mutumushi has observed the need to broaden skills of experts in the digital world if the digital transformation agenda is to be met.
Mr. Mutumushi said government should strive to ensure that youths are equipped with technological knowledge while at a tender age by providing digital tools in schools, as the importance of ICT’s could not be overemphasized. “I am hopeful that the deliberations at this summit will not only be beneficial to participants but also for our country to enhance it’s digital transformation strategy as spelt out in the National ICT Policy.”
The ZICTA Director also called for stakeholder involvement in the fight against cyber-crime which he described as a threat to the digital transformation agenda.
Meanwhile, Summit Chairperson Ceaser Siwale noted the need for the country to be more proactive in the implementation of the digital world.
Mr. Siwale said Zambia’s future lies in embracing digital technology and exploring its potential to advance the country’s national goals.

I totally agree with the call by members of the public, including the First and Fourth Republican Presidents Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Rupiah Banda, calling for revocation of the mining licence issued to Zambezi Resources Limited, an Australian company, to mine in the Lower Zambezi Game Park.
Besides inconceivable immeasurable and irreversible environmental damage that is likely to arise from mining in the national park, it appears to me that the manner, in which the licence was issued to Zambezi Resources Limited, is full of fundamental breaches of the mining law.
From the records, it is reported that on 17th January 2014, the then Minister of Land, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Honorable Harry Kalaba issued Large Scale Mining Licence No. 15547-HQ-LML to Mwembeshi Resources Limited, a subsidiary of Zambezi Resources Limited. If it true Honorable Kalaba issued the mining licence, then that was illegal.
At that time, the mining law which was in force was the Mines and Minerals Development Act No. 7 of 2008. The power to issue mining licences under the Act, were vested in the Director of Mines. Per Section 25(2) of the Act, it was mandatory for an application for a large-scale mining licence to be made to the Director of Mines in the prescribed manner and form upon payment of the prescribed fee. Furthermore, per Section 25(5), it was mandatory for an applicant to commission and produce to the Director of Mines an environmental impact study on the proposed mining operations which had been approved by the Environmental Council of Zambia (now Zambia Environmental Management Agency).
In summary, the procedure to issue a mining licence started with conducting an environmental impact assessment and submitting the report to Environmental Council of Zambia. After review of the report, the Environmental Council of Zambia either approved or rejected it. If the report was approved, then the developer would proceed to the Director of Mines to apply for the mining licence, and attach to the application the approved environmental impact assessment report together with the Environmental Council of Zambia decision letter. From environmental side, only when the two documents were attached would a mining licence be issued.
This being the case, it is therefore impossible that a mining licence would have been issued by the Director of Mines to Zambezi Resources Limited before 17th January, 2014 when Honorable Kalaba is reported to have issued the authorization to approve the environmental impact assessment report overturning the Environmental Council of Zambia decision letter as approval of the report comes before issuance of the mining licence.
The correct procedure therefore should have been that after Honorable Kalaba overturned the decision letter of Environmental Council of Zambia to disapprove the mining project, then Zambezi Resources Limited or its subsidiary Mwembeshi Resources Limited, should have gone back to Environmental Council of Zambia to issue a fresh decision letter, this time approving the project. Armed with a fresh decision letter and approved environmental impact assessment report, then, and only then, would Zambezi Resources Limited be eligible to submit an application for issuance of a mining licence.
There are so many questions that beg answers on this issue. First, did the Environmental Council of Zambia re-issue its decision letter after the earlier one was overturned by Honorable Kalaba? If so, when was this decision letter issued, where is the evidence? Secondly, when was Large Scale Mining Licence No. 15547-HQ-LML issued by the Director of Mines to Mwembeshi Resources Limited? Was it before or after 17th January, 2014, when Honorable Kalaba overturned the Environmental Council of Zambia decision letter?
And if it was after, was it before or after 4th February, 2014 when the High Court in Lusaka halted government approval of an environmental management plan to mine copper from the Lower Zambezi National Park.
The Mines and Minerals Development Act No. 7 of 2008 provided 60 days in which the Director of Mines was supposed to approve or reject the application. The Director of Mines was obliged to cause an investigation to be made or consultations to be carried out to enable him to assess whether or not the requirements of Section 26 of the Act were met.
One thing for certain is that it was impossible that the Director of Mines issued the mining licence between 17th January, 2014 and 4th February, 2014 because of procedural requirements under Section 26. On the face of it, the Zambezi Resources Limited Large Scale Mining Licence No. 15547-HQ-LML was issued illegally, and thereby null and void. Thus, it just makes sense that Government revokes it not only from environmental concerns raised by the public but also fundamental breaches of environmental and mining laws.
THE Zambia Roads & Highway Safety Group (ZRHSG) has noted with dismay the continued harassment and inconveniencing of the travelling public by bus station pastors and other religious preachers and is calling on the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) and the Bus owners to put a stop to this.
Pastors and other religious preachers have for a long time been boarding long distance buses at the main station as the bus is departing and begin preaching to passengers without due regard to their freedom of choice and religion. This preaching ends up with passengers being coerced to make a donation to these pastors and religious preachers before they drop off. Nowadays these pastors waylay buses as they enter a city and begin the preaching to tired passengers as the bus heads towards the main bus station.
“The Consumer Protection and Competition Commission should also develop a commuter charter to help popularise the rights of the traveling public and the duties of the bus owners towards their clients,” says Group Administrator Mthoniswa Banda.
“I once got on a bus going to Solwezi awe it was a hell of a ride. We had a man of God take us from Lusaka to Chisamba, another one picked from Kabwe to Kapiri and then a medicine seller on the bus started promoting his medicine. Ndola to Kitwe another man of gold, Kitwe to Chingola another man of gold who noticed I was so fade up and decided to preach about me and how I was going to hell,” said a commuter and member of the ZRHSG.
Zambia Roads & Highway Safety Group (ZRHSG) feels this behaviour needs to stop.
“No commuter rights in Zambia. Passengers are abused left right and centre. I tried in vain to engage the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission for a help in developing a commuter rights charter but nothing came out from our discussion,” posted another member.
Another member said “This has really been a thorn in the neck. Commuters need to enjoy their journey and the drivers need to concentrate on the road. It’s public nuisance. The bus is public therefore they should not be at liberty without due permission. Law must be applied.”
The Zambia Roads & Highway Safety Group (ZRHSG) hopes that RTSA, the ZCCPC and the Bus Owners can meet and resolve this problem that is disturbing the peace of the majority of bus commuters.
Zambia Roads & Highway Safety Group (ZRHSG) is an online group with over 1,200 members and is for sharing experiences and knowledge on road safety and defensive driving on Zambian roads and Highways by both professional drivers, car owners and the majority road users as passengers or pedestrians. These discussions will help identify road safety issues, bad policies and bad road designs requiring improvement by government and its agencies such as RTSA, RDA, NRFA, ZP and local councils.
Every week, the ZRHSG will produce a statement summarising the group discussion and sharing this opoinion with Road Safety agencies and other policy makers so they improve Zambia’s Road Safety.
“So I have come down to rescue them…and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land…”
(Exodus 3:8)
A Good and Spacious Land
Notice in today’s verse that God did not say He would bring His people into a small land; a little place, tight or crowded. No, receive this into your spirit: Just as God brought the children of Israel into a good and spacious land, so He will do the same for you! He wants to take you to the land of “more than enough,” a land of plenty of room flowing with the increase, good breaks and opportunity. He wants you to live in a land where you not only have enough for yourself, but you’re so blessed that you can be a blessing to other people. If you’re not in a good and spacious place today, the challenge is: don’t settle where you are. This is not your permanent address! It’s only temporary. Keep standing, keep believing, keep pressing forward and walk into the good and spacious land God has in store for you!
A Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness in my life. I trust that You are leading me into a new land, a spacious land filled with blessing and opportunity. I choose to stand and keep my eyes on You as You lead me forward in Your purposes in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo has called for the arrest of a local contractor who has dragged the construction of a Maternity Annex at Kabushi Clinic for five years.
Stardy Construction, a company owned and operated by Defence Permanent Secretary Stardy Mwale was awarded a 1.6 million tender to construct a Maternity Annex at the clinic.
At the time the contract was awarded, Mr Mwale was serving as PF Copperbelt Province Chairman.
The project to construct a Maternity Annex aims to bring maternity services closer to the women of Kabushi who presently are forced to cross the Kafubu river to access maternity services.
Copperbelt Acting Health Director Christopher Dube confirmed that construction works started in 2013 and were expected to last a period of 18 months.
Dr. Dube also confirmed that the contractor has been paid the 1.6 million Kwacha which is the value of the contract.
“This project has had a lot of snags. It’s been start-stop for a long time but government doesn’t owe the contractor anything amounts at the moment. The government has paid him everything in line with the contract,” Dr Dube said.
This came to light when Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo toured their clinic on Saturday.
Mr. Lusambo who is also Lusaka Province Minister called for the arrest of the contractor for failing to meet contractual agreements.
He also directed the Ndola District Health Office to terminate the contract immediately.
Mr Lusambo said he is not impressed with the quality of work and the work culture exhibited by the contractor.
“This is highly disappointing. We cannot have this kind of altitude towards development. How does completing a simple Maternity Annex take more than five years?”
Mr Lusambo added,” the President is interested in bringing development to all corners of this country but it is these kind of contractors that are not helping the situation. They are merely bringing the name of the President into disrepute and I for one as Kabushi M.P, I shall not allow that to happen.”
He recommended that the National Council for Construction should move in and sanction the contractor for failing to perform according to the contract terms.
“These are our local contractors and the President wants to empower them. Unfortunately they are disappointing him and when we give to a Chinese, they are the same people that start crying that Chinese are taking their jobs. It’s highly unfortunate.”

Maamba collieries thermal power plant engineers captured busy working in the 300 mega watts power plant.
The Ministry of Finance is next week expected to pay 20 million United States dollars to Maamba Collieries Limited.
Finance Minister Bwalya Ng’andu says the money is meant to dismantle outstanding arrears ZESCO owes Maamba Collieries Limited for power.
Dr. Ng’andu was speaking in an interview today shortly after touring Maamba Collieries Limited with Energy Minister Matthew Nkhuwa.
And Mr. Nkhuwa has refuted media reports that Maamba Collieries has stopped supplying power to Zesco due to outstanding bills.
Mr. Nkhuwa clarified that the damaged tubes in the boilers at Maamba Collieries are the major cause for the halt in electricity supply and NOT outstanding arrears.
He said the Management at Maamba Collieries has assured government of its commitment to repair the damaged tubes as soon as possible.
The energy minister said once repaired, power supply will be restored from the current 1-hundred and 50 megawatts to 3 hundred.
Meanwhile Maamba Collieries Chief Executive Officer Venkat Shankar said the company has a good working relationship with government and will do everything possible to repair the damages at the thermal power plant.
